🎼5 April 1973. Some months before I was born, Le Orme, fantastic Prog Rock band from Venice, #Italy, release their 4th album Felona e Sorona, still today in my opinion the best rock album ever come "out of the #Lagoon". πŸ€ŸπŸ”
#LeOrme members, Aldo Tagliapietra, Tony Pagliuca and Michi Dei Rossi were 3 local musicians at the peak of their career, they were part of the unrepeatable Italian Prog Rock era of the early seventies which, with far less technical and promotional means, developed along with the contemporary monumental British Progressive Rock scene. #PeterHammill, at the time leader and mastermind of the famous band #VanDerGraafGenerator, became a big fan and friend of Le Orme and collaborated with them for this album, by suggesting its title and translating the lyrics for its English Version, and for their following UK Tour.
I post the entire record, since it is a concept album telling the story of two planets, Felona and Sorona, which simply can't live without each other, one being in perennial light and the other in perennial darkness. It would not be great to extract just one song, plus the whole sound of this record is incredible still today 😳, more if you think it was 1973! πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸŽΈπŸŽ™πŸŽΉπŸ₯πŸŽΆ

πŸ“œπŸ“Έ Cannaregio. The first Sestiere (district) we meet when arriving in Venice by train and Airport taxi boat. You can see it on the Map☝️❀️bordered in red❀️.
#Cannaregio is the northern Sestiere in Venice, it also comprehends #SanMichele Island, which is Venice cemetery. Before they built the big bridge that connects Venice Island to the Mainland, the Canal Regio (Italian for Royal Canal) which gives the name to this Sestiere, was the main access to Venice (on water).
Thanks to my fantastic #WalkingTour in Cannaregio πŸ˜ƒ you can fully enjoy all main sights, amazing secret places off the beaten tracks, indulge in "ombra and polpetta" πŸ·πŸ§†πŸ˜‹ in the oldest Hostaria in Venice, while hearing amazing stories about the first #Ghetto in the world, and the first #Casino in the world...
Enjoy pictures of Cannaregio and my Walking Tour Video in the Chat Room πŸ‘‡ ... and of course I would love to see some of your pictures too... πŸ˜ƒ

🎼7 April 1978. A new band from UK, The Police release their first single Roxanne, it is included in their debut album Outlandos D'Amour which will follow some months later. It tells the story of a man falling in love with a prostitute and BBC radio refuses the airplay 😳... in the middle of the punk explosion age πŸ€”
The #Police tour the US a year later and Roxanne eventually becomes their most succesful hit... thus bringing back UK radios to some reasoning πŸ‘πŸ€Ÿ Maybe some of you will recognize the band's singer πŸ˜‰ #7April #Sting

πŸŽ₯ 7 April 2009. Venice in Movie Series.
At the Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles, there's a premiΓ©re of a Hindi-language comedy drama directed by Anand Surapur. Its title is "The Fakir of Venice" and, yes, it's mostly fimed here in Venice πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜‰
πŸ’¬ Plot: It's the story of an Indian con man who is hired to find a Fakir πŸ§žβ€β™‚οΈwho can bury himself in sand for an art installation project in Venice (as far as I can understand, I guess it's connected with our #Biennale of Arts). The movie stars actors Farhan Akhtar, Annu Kapoor and Kamal Sidhu.
It will take 10 years to be released (January 2019) due to production related issues πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ, but as far as I see from the trailer πŸŽžπŸ‘‡... it looks like it's worth the wait! It must be really funny πŸ˜‚, have someone seen it?

🎼8 April 1692. Giuseppe Tartini, violinist and composer, was born in Pirano a small town in Istria peninsula, at the time part of the Republic of Venice, today part of Slovenia.
He's worldwide famous for his "Devil's Trill Sonata" (Il Trillo del Diavolo), inspired by the Devil himself! 😳
Tartini told his friend, the French astronomer Jérôme Lalande, that he had dreamed the devil who appeared to him and asked to be Tartini's servant and teacher. At the end of the music lesson, #Tartini handed the devil his violin to test his skill, which the devil began to play with virtuosity, delivering an intense and magnificent performance, this Sonata... doesn't this sound like a modern blues/rock/metal story? How many times we have heard that the Devil himself inspired musicians? 😈
In any case the Devil's Trill Sonata is absolutely crazy in its beauty! ❀️

🎼8 April 1962. Happy Birthday πŸ₯³πŸΎ to Mr. Izzy Stradlin, born Jeffrey Dean Isbell in Lafayette, Indiana, USA. #Guitarist, singer, songwriter, mostly known as co-founder (1985!) and member of Guns'n'Roses during their best and glorious years πŸ€ŸπŸŽΈπŸ”
He left the Guns in 1992 at the peak of their success and began a solo career, he re-joined the band only occasionally.
Here's a punky reggae track 😳😎 from his first solo album with the Ju Ju Hounds in 1992.
In the Chat Room πŸ‘‡ I post a couple of other songs I like, written and sung by Stradlin both solo and for #GNR... and of course you can post your favorite ones πŸ˜ƒ

🎼9 April 1994. Far Beyond Driven πŸ‘† album by Thrash Groove Metal 😈🀘 band Pantera goes straight to number 1 in US Charts. It's an important mark for the entire Heavy Metal scene because it's the first time ever that an album so "violent" and extreme peaks the Charts ! πŸ”₯🎸
#Pantera at the time were at the πŸ” of their popularity and were a terrific live act. I can personnally confirm this, since I saw them live 5 times in the nineties πŸ€ŸπŸ‘Ή
In the Chat RoomπŸ‘‡I post the first single extracted from the album plus a photo of the Men! As always you can post your favorite song from that album if you have any πŸ˜ƒ

πŸ“œπŸŽΌπŸŽ™πŸ”Š9 April 1860. An anonymous passerby in Paris is singing on the street "Au Claire de La Lune" a French popular 18th century song. A guy who will then become an inventor is able to capture and record from his window the passerby's voice as a phonautogram on paper 😳 (later in decades evolved in phonographs and grammophones thanks to further inventions).
We all love music and listening to it, don't we πŸ˜ƒ? All the music we listen to is recorded, with so many different technologies... but recorded !
If today we can enjoy our favorite music, this is also partly due to that guy in Paris called Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville, who on that #9April made the first known and oldest surviving recording of the human voice!!! πŸ—£πŸ™ŒπŸ‘

Here's the remaster of that recording. I also post in the Chat RoomπŸ‘‡the entire popular song many of you will recognize and a #Litfiba (Italian best rock/new wave band in the 80s!) song I particularly love, Pierrot e La Luna, at the end of which you can hear the words of that 1860 recording:
"Au clair de la Lune
Mon ami Pierrot
PrΓͺte-moi ta plume
Pour Γ©crire un mot"

🎼10 April 1989. Sonic Temple is released. Hard Rock ⚑️ Heavy Metal ⚑️ Glam Metal at the highest levels in this fantastic album by The Cult. Super production (Bob Rock!), super promotion, change of sound and best selling for a group that until then, as its name suggests, was more of a... cult band 🀟😈
Singles such as Fire Woman, Sweet Soul Sister, Edie (Ciao Baby), Sun King were in 1989 charts all over the world, introducing #TheCult into the "Rock Temple".
I chose here my favorite song from Sonic Temple, Soul Asylum, with #vocalist Ian Astbury πŸŽ™ and #guitarist Billy Duffy 🎸at their πŸ” πŸ‘πŸ”₯

🎼10 April 1950. Happy Birthday πŸ₯³πŸΎto Geddy... pardon πŸ˜‰... John Burke Shelley born in Cardiff, Wales, UK. I'm pretty sure few people hardly know him and his band, he was the singer and bassist of Welsh band Budgie. They are one of the most important bands for developing the Heavy Metal sound in early 70s πŸ€ŸπŸ”
But #BurkeShelley is and will always be remembered also for his incredible resemblance with a far more famous rock musician from Canada!!! He played the bass and was the lead singer like that guy, plus he had almost the same voice, almost the same face and almost the same shape 😳😱
I share with you this video of their 1973 (!!!) amazing track Breadfan and anyone can easily understand why I'm talking about Heavy⚑️Metal with a Killer Riff 🎸😈
This song is also an official cover by #Metallica for ages!
And the singer looks like... πŸ€”???
