Andrea Palladio, widely considered one of the most influential architects in history, was born in #Padua, at the time under the Republic Of Venice.

The city of #Vicenza, with its 23 buildings designed by #Palladio, and the 24 Palladian Villas of the #Veneto region are listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.
In particular the influence of #PalladianVillas design and style can be found all over the world in public buildings and constructions, the most famous example is the US Capitol๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Here in Venice we can admire several churches designed and built by #AndreaPalladio, most notably the Church and Refectory of San Giorgio Maggiore island, the Church of Redentore, the Church of Le Zitelle, the faรงade for the Church of San Francesco della Vigna, the faรงade for the Basilica of San Pietro di Castello (see ๐Ÿ“ธโ˜๏ธ).

Have you ever visited some of these amazing buildings?

Francesco Algarotti was born in Venice.
He was a writer, essayist, art collector, polymath, philosopher, poet. Enlightenment spirit, Anglophile, erudite with knowledge ranging from Newtonianism to architecture and music, he was a friend of the greatest personalities of the time such as Voltaire, Lord Chesterfield, Thomas Gray, George Lyttelton, Thomas Hollis, Metastasio, Benedict XIV, Heinrich von Brรผhl, Frederick II of Prussia.

One of the biggest merits of #Algarotti was to make things simple: an example is his essay "Newtonianism for Ladies"โ˜๏ธwhich was intended for the everyday people (and therefore despised by the erudite elitist of the time).

Today the most important Academy school for Tourism and Incoming in Venice is named after him, Istituto d'Istruzione Superiore Francesco Algarotti (see picture ๐Ÿ“ธโ˜๏ธ): #myguests always learn about it during my fantastic #WalkingTour in Venice ๐ŸคŸ
#FrancescoAlgarotti passed away in #Pisa, on 3 May 1764.

๐ŸŽผโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ #LeOrme have just published this beautiful video. The song is part of a heavenly suite completely dedicated to their hometown: Venice.

"Acqua di Luna" is contained in their last and final album released 2 months ago after a crowdfunding (this fact tells a lot about the "state of the art" nowadays!) as Le Orme & Friends, to conclude and celebrate a 55 year long career.

Drummer #MichiDeiRossi, today the only original member of Le Orme, is joined in this album by many musicians, most notably by former keyboardist #TonyPagliuca and by members of #Osanna.
#AldoTagliapietra, Le Orme founder, singer and guitarist, was invited but sadly (for us) declined.

They just announced the Farewell Tour in 2024 so... who knows, will we be able to see the 3 original members together again? ๐Ÿ™

In the meantime... #VeniceMusic
