PDVSA-Crypto case: they demand that the UN and the IACHR monitor a trial that they qualify as political

Outside the Palace of Justice in Caracas, this Friday, June 5th, lawyers for the accused in the PDVSA-Crypto corruption plot denounced the irregularities of the criminal process and assured that it is a case "of a political nature". They warned about the physical and mental integrity of the defendants, after having been victims of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.

They claimed that this Wednesday, June 3rd, several defendants detained in El Helicoide were transferred to other prisons without prior request from the court or their representatives. This, they said, "evidences the lack of autonomy of the criminal courts vis-à-vis the security and criminal investigation bodies of the country".
Renal kidney problems patients denounce the collapse of units in at least five states of the country

Renal patients in Lara, Miranda, Guárico, Cojedes and Zulia denounce that the deterioration of dialysis units prevents them from receiving complete treatments.

The lack of water, power outages, machines out of service, a deficit of supplies and insufficient resources jeopardize the care of hundreds of people whose lives depend on four hours of connection to a machine.

"The hours of connection to the machine were four; then they went down to three and many times they only receive one hour," denounced relatives of the patients in Miranda.

🇵🇪⚡️❗️🇻🇪 — Conservative candidate Keiko Fujimori intensified the tone of her campaign in the final stretch of Peru’s presidential election by publishing a message comparing the Peruvian political landscape to the experience of Venezuela under the governments of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro.

➡️ On the eve of the presidential runoff, Keiko stated that she had spoken with Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, one of the most prominent voices opposing Maduro's government.

🤝 In her message, the candidate described the conversation with the Venezuelan politician as “moving” and said that history offers lessons about the paths countries should follow—and those they should avoid. According to Keiko, the model implemented by Chávez came to power promising prosperity but ultimately produced poverty, insecurity, and the exodus of millions of Venezuelans.

⚠️ The former congresswoman also stated that Peruvians have a responsibility to defend democracy, economic prosperity, and the future of coming generations. Without directly naming her opponent, she warned against those who, in her words, are “disguised as democrats” and seek to take away the rights and achievements of the population.

💬 The statement comes amid a campaign marked by ideological polarization. Keiko’s allies have frequently used the situation in Venezuela as an argument against proposals supported by sectors of the Peruvian left, while her opponents point to the political history of Fujimorismo and the legacy of former President Alberto Fujimori to challenge her candidacy.

💥 References to Venezuela have become one of the central themes of Keiko Fujimori’s electoral message, as she seeks to mobilize moderate and conservative voters by presenting the presidential race as a choice between maintaining the current economic model and a possible shift toward policies inspired by left-wing governments in Latin America.

Trump:

We took control of a very powerful country: Venezuela. Many soldiers, a large and strong army.

We took control of Venezuela in a matter of minutes.

We destroyed Iran's capabilities in a matter of days. No one has ever seen anything like it. Now I'm going to finish it off".
