Україна свій вибір зробила. Наша держава більше ніколи не буде жертвою. Не буде просто спостерігачем за життям – в тому числі й своїм життям. Ми можемо, хочемо і будемо субʼєктами в житті. Ось звідки наша сила, наше потужне прагнення до свободи, яку ми виборюємо для себе.

Open dialogue with students of major American universities about choice. The main choice that everyone makes in their life when choosing the answer to the question of who they are.

Ukraine has made its choice. Our state will never be a victim again. It will not be just an observer of life - including its own life. We can, want to and will be subjects in life. This is where our strength comes from, our strong desire for the freedom we are fighting for.

Непростий день. Але і цей день, як і всі інші, спрямований на те, щоб уберегти нашу країну й наших людей. Завдяки діям українських військових – Збройних Сил України, розвідки, а також переговорної групи, Міжнародного комітету Червоного Хреста й ООН маємо надію, що вдасться зберегти життя наших хлопців. Хочу підкреслити: українські герої потрібні Україні живими. Це наш принцип. Думаю, що ці слова зрозуміє кожна адекватна людина.

Thanks to the actions of the Ukrainian military - the Armed Forces of Ukraine, intelligence, the negotiating team, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations, we hope that we will be able to save the lives of our guys. Among them are the seriously wounded, they are being provided with medical aid. I want to emphasize: Ukraine needs Ukrainian heroes alive. This is our principle. I think that every adequate person will understand these words.

Каннський кінофестиваль. Нагадав слова героя Чапліна, які прозвучали з екранів у 1940 році: «Людська ненависть пройде, і диктатори помруть, і влада, яку вони забрали в людей, повернеться до людей. І поки люди вмирають, свобода ніколи не загине…»

Відтоді людство зняло чимало прекрасних кінокартин. Здавалося, що всі вже зрозуміли, що підкорювати людей можна прекрасним, збираючи їх біля екранів, а не потворним, збираючи їх у бомбосховищах.
Здавалося, що всі вже думали, що хоррор у вигляді повномасштабної війни, яка може охопити весь континент, більше не матиме продовження.
Але знову, як і тоді, є диктатор. Знову, як і тоді, є війна за свободу. Знову, як і тоді, потрібно, щоб кіно не було німим.

Продовжую збирати якнайбільшу міжнародну аудиторію для України. Щоб нашу державу підтримували на всіх рівнях. І щоб на всіх рівнях тиснули на Росію.
Інформаційний тиск, дипломатичний, а також культурний. Ось що нам треба. Щоб, як і в часи Другої світової війни, боротьба за свободу могла спиратися зокрема й на силу мистецтва.

Since then - since those words of the hero played by Chaplin - mankind has produced many beautiful movies. It seemed that everyone already understood that one can conquer people with the beautiful, gathering them near the screens, and not with the ugly, gathering them in bomb shelters.
It seemed that everyone already believed that the horror in the form of a full-scale war that could cover the entire continent would not have continuation.
But again, as then, there is a dictator. Again, as then, there is a war for freedom. Again, as then, it is necessary for cinematography not to be dumb.

I continue to gather the largest possible international audience for Ukraine. To support our state at all levels. And to put pressure on Russia at all levels.
Information, diplomatic and cultural pressure is what we need. So that, as in the days of World War II, the struggle for freedom can rely in particular on the power of art.
