❗️Five Mistakes to Avoid in the Speaking Test:

1. Speaking Too Softly
• The examiner might not hear you, and it can lower your score even if your ideas are good.
2. Mumbling or Slurring Words
• This shows a lack of confidence and makes it hard for the examiner to understand you.
3. Speaking Too Fast
• Talking quickly can lead to unclear pronunciation and mistakes.
4. Pausing Too Much or Staying Silent
• Hesitation wastes time, and long silences can give the impression you are unprepared.
5. Using Too Many Filler Words
• Overusing “uh,” “um,” or “ah” makes you seem unsure. Instead, use phrases like “Let me think for a moment” to sound more confident.

Five Ways to Score Well in the Speaking Test:

1. Speak Clearly and Loudly
• Ensure your words are easy to understand and your voice is loud enough for the examiner to hear clearly.
2. Pace Yourself
• Maintain a steady speaking speed—don’t rush or speak too slowly. This helps you stay clear and organized.
3. Showcase a Variety of Vocabulary
• Use different words and phrases, but make sure they fit naturally into your answers. Avoid repeating the same words too often.
4. Use Proper Sentence Structures
• Speak in complete sentences and organize your ideas logically. This makes your speech more coherent and professional.
5. Express Emotion and Meaning
• Use appropriate tones (e.g., questioning or exclamatory) and gestures to emphasize your points. This shows confidence and engagement.
How to score speaking test

1. Break the Question into Smaller Parts
• Identify keywords and think about what, why, and how.
• Example: “Why is reading important?” → What is reading? Why is it useful? How does it help people?
2. Use Personal Examples
• Relate the topic to your life or experiences.
• Example: “Do you like sports?” → “Yes, I play badminton every weekend with friends because it helps me stay active.”
3. Follow a Simple Structure
Point → Reason → Example.
• Example: “Should students learn music?” → “Yes, music helps students relax (Point). It reduces stress after studying (Reason). For example, I play the guitar to unwind after exams (Example).”
4. Compare or Contrast
• If you can’t think of much, compare two ideas to expand your answer.
• Example: “Do you prefer online or physical shopping?” → “I prefer online shopping because it’s convenient. However, physical shopping allows me to see products before buying.”
5. Use Fillers to Buy Time
• Phrases like “That’s an interesting question” or “Let me think for a moment” give you time to organize your thoughts.
• Then, try rephrasing the question in your answer: “In my opinion, the benefits of teamwork include…”

💬 🙋🏻‍♀️How to Score Well and Collaborate in the Discussion Part:
1. Start with a Clear Opinion
• Begin by sharing your point of view confidently. For example, “I believe education is the most important factor for success because…”
• Be direct but polite when presenting your ideas.
2. Listen Actively to Your Partner
• Pay attention to their points and acknowledge them before responding. For example, “That’s a great point. I agree that teamwork is important, but I also think…”
3. Ask Questions to Involve Your Partner
• Keep the conversation flowing by asking their opinion. Example: “What do you think about this?” or “Do you agree with me?”
4. Support or Build on Their Ideas
• Show collaboration by adding to their points. Example: “I agree that technology has made life easier. Additionally, it has improved education by providing online resources.”
5. Be Respectful When Disagreeing
• Politely share your perspective if you disagree. Example: “I see your point, but I think we should also consider…” Avoid interrupting your partner.

Key Tips:
• Keep the discussion balanced—don’t dominate or stay too quiet.
• Use linking phrases like “In addition,” “On the other hand,” or “To add to that…” to connect your ideas.
• Practice discussions with friends to get used to sharing and responding to ideas naturally.

HOTS : To what extent do you agree that teenagers can generate an income from their hobbies?

answer

Candidate 1:

I strongly agree that teenagers can generate an income from their hobbies. With the rise of social media and online platforms, it has become easier than ever for teenagers to turn their passions into income. For example, teenagers who enjoy photography can sell their photos online or work as freelance photographers for events.

Candidate 2:
I agree as well. Teenagers who are skilled in arts and crafts can sell their handmade products on platforms like Shopee or Etsy. Many people are willing to pay for unique, creative items. This not only helps them earn money but also gives them a sense of achievement

Do you think we should put ourselves first?

Yes, I believe we should put ourselves first sometimes because it is important to take care of our own mental and physical health. If we don’t prioritize ourselves, we may become too stressed or unhappy, which can affect how we help others.
1
For example, if someone is always helping others but neglects their own needs, they might feel overwhelmed. Putting ourselves first doesn’t mean being selfish, but rather ensuring we are in a good place to support others as well.
