UPDATE ON FAMILIES WITHOUT POWER:
As of yesterday afternoon, two of the three families who haven't had power for over a month now have their power back on WITH analog meters. The third family has chosen not to have their power back on because they are exploring alternative energy sources so they're not at the mercy of Dominion anymore.
Thank you ALL for your calls, emails, social media posts, and continued support on this issue. We're not done yet; together we will move the needle on this make changes to our meter situation at the state level and protect ourselves in our own homes.

SB 849 is up for vote in the Commerce and Labor committee on Monday. The committee adjourns at 12:30pm. Who would like to speak in support of AN AMENDED SB 849 utility meter bill? PLEASE HELP STOP THESE TERRIBLE FEDERAL BILLS - There are many telecom bills moving at the federal level right now - but two in particular are so bad that they could stop any work we are doing in its tracks!

HR 3557 would take away any local control we have left over wireless infrastructure siting - even going so far as to put control of local right-of-ways at the federal level.

HR 4141 which would do away with environmental AND historical review for wireless infrastructure, ban moratoria, and shorten the amount of time localities have to respond to multiple tower applications. This control can only be done via “smart” meters and “smart” thermostats:

NOW - Texas' power grid enters emergency mode as operators issue a "level 2 emergency" calling on generators to push all available electricity to the grid. They're asking customers to cut their electricity consumption between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

If this fails, rolling blackouts are likely to begin to control usage.

Why your cell phone will get an emergency alert on October 4, 2023

Your phone can receive emergency alerts to warn you of kidnapped children or severe weather. As long as your phone is on, regardless of if you have it silenced, it will go off with a loud tone guaranteed to get your attention. These alerts are localized and broadcast to certain areas based on relevance. However, an upcoming emergency test will affect everyone in the country.
On August 3, 2023, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and the Wireless Emergency Alerts. The test will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at approximately 2:20PM ET. In coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, FEMA will broadcast the alerts to all radios, televisions and consumer cell phones.

Article continued: The October 4 test will ensure that the EAS and WEA systems remain effective options to earn the American public about emergencies, especially on a national level. Such a mass alert needs to be validated to ensure its viability. This is the third nationwide WEA test, but only the second to test all cellular devices. The EAS test has been performed nationwide six times before.
