Gs-4 : Ethics- values
π ΎοΈThis is my personal opinion
β‘οΈModernity represents rationale thought. What represents this modern culture and their linkage to modernity often comes from the perception that say things like smoking/drinking represents a form of liberation, rebellion, or modern lifestyle choices. Especially if women are competing with men to show they are equal by smoking- it is infact a downgrade. The irony lies in adopting a hazardous habit in the name of modernity, while it actually undermines the well-being that modern advancements aim to achieve.
π°Smoking as a status symbol is like using a ticking time bomb as a fashion accessory; it's a statement no one should want to make and remember- marketing agencies might be sexist- cancer isn'tπ. Also Don't let UPSC stress be a reason to fall in this trap

β St. Thomas- Christianity- Kolkali art
π ΎοΈIn the Malayalam language, "Kol" means stick, and "kali" means dance
π ΎοΈInspiration : Kalaripayattu, the martial art practiced in Kerala and Tamil Nadu
β οΈNote : There is no historical link b/w St. Thomas and the Kolkali. St. Thomas who brought chrisianity to India landed in Muziris somewhere around 52 AD (now identified with sites near modern-day North Paravur and Kodungallur in Kerala State, India) while Kolkali is a folk dance form that emerged approximately 200 years ago in the North Malabar region of Kerala. However, it is common in various cultures to incorporate local traditions and art forms into religious celebrations or remembrances. Therefore, Kolkali could be performed during events that commemorate St. Thomas as a way of celebrating Kerala's cultural diversity.
