The Unscripted Entrepreneurial Network by MJ DeMarco: Business and Wealth Building Strategy for Fastlane Entrepreneurs

When Elon Musk boards his private jet, he's "living within his means" - live within your means, with the intent to expand your means. This game is won on offense (a big income or asset valuation) and preserved with defense (money management). Poor money mgmt can't be medicated with more money. Offense wins the game in 10yrs or less, defense preserves for the rest of your life. ~MJ πŸ’ͺ

Dutch Bros & Black Rifle Coffee came after Starbucks. Don't be dissauded from looking at opportunities simply because "it's being done" - value is subjective and people will always prefer doing business with small, private companies over large, megalithic corporate monsters. A key branding strategy is to make your company take on a personality, like an individual. Have a great weekend! ~ MJ πŸ–οΈ

Here's a fact your cheap mainstream financial guru will never reveal: Wealth is created asymmetrically; 1 unit of effort, 5 units of pay. Asymmetry is a HUGE topic in my upcoming book and is demonstrated in the fictional story. Culture has brainwashed us to earn $ symmetrically: 1 unit of time (hr/year) 1 unit of pay. 8% a year for 50yrs? No, 800% a year for 10. Only a biz has this power. πŸ”‹πŸ”ŒπŸ’ͺ ~MJ

https://bit.ly/3c0Zduq - title says "Americans" but this is not limited to the USA! Great thread on Fastlane about solopreneurs with $1M+ businesses (5/6 figure monthly profits), that means NO employees (but a lot of outsourcing + contracting): link is to a great video by Noah Kagan which does a fabulous job of a "step by step" analysis of how these entrepreneurs got it started. Enjoy or comment! πŸ’¬πŸŽ™οΈ πŸ™‚ ~ MJ

Accountability partners can be great. One Fastlaner reported that he and his friend have a deal where they commit each day to accomplishing something; if someone slacks, he/she has to burn a $100 bill in front of the other. Yikes! πŸ”₯🧯You can find such partners at the forum, link to follow. Hope ur weekend was splendid! ~MJ

David Reichart developed 40 mobile games while working as a valet. Those games made about $40 a month. A Fastlane was no where to be found. His 41st attempt, was downloaded over 200 million times and lets just say, that valet job is gone. Good thing he didn't give up his Fastlane @ #40. Reminder: Past failures/errors improve probabilities for future your results. Swing, and swing often. ⚾~ MJ

Repetition is the mother of skill and competence. And often, repetition can be tedious and grueling. Think of a BB player who shoots 1000 free throws and dribbles 10 miles. πŸ€ The process is a thankless grind, the event shines on stage, draining hoops, millionaire contracts etc. This also applies to books,πŸ“š if u find value in a book, reread it over-n-over to make it rote. Have a great day! ~MJ

20% of your marketing efforts will yield 80% of your sales. Over the years, both in experience + listening to entrepreneurs on the forum, Pareto's Principle (80/20) applies to marketing. IOW, your business will have a few gushers, while the rest will be slow drips. Expect the process to uncover these channels/strategies like looking for needles in haystacks.πŸ” Have good Friday! ~MJ

Interesting quote I came across that reflects living Unscripted... "It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection." -Bhagavad Gita 3.35 πŸ™‚ Have a great week folks! ~MJ

Think of new friends/relationships as you would saddled behind them on their motorcycle while they drive. If they drive to great places, you can go with them. Conversely, if your new associate drives down a dark alley or drives
recklessly, you'll get stuck with their consequences. Choose your circle wisely (which is why I created TheFastlaneForum!) πŸ‘€ πŸ™‚ ~MJ

TALENT is not awakened, discovered, or birthed, but EARNED. The "Force Doesn't Awaken" is a Principle from my new book coming June 29 and states that talent is only earned through a disciplined process, it is not something that miraculously appears as the Hollywood Superhero/Star Wars movies want you to believe. If you wait for talent to be "discovered", you'll wait forever. EARN IT! ~MJ πŸ‘ŸπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Learn how to sell to succeed at anything. The priority skill in business is communication/sales, even if you're a CEO of a big corporation. Selling NEVER ends, from your 1st customer, your 1st employee, your 1st multinational partnership, or taking your company public. No matter your role (working IN vs ON your biz) have the right expectation: the sales process has no end date. πŸ“ˆ ~MJ

Reading a 100 books on swimming won't make you a top swimmer: eventually you have to jump in the water. 🏊🩱I mention this cuz a lot of folks commented on my prior text about the importance of sales, and what books to read? The best way to learn something isn't READING about it, it's DOING IT. 10 hours of DOING is like READING 1000 hours of books. ~MJ

Had several folks ask: If you want my new book early as a paperback, FYI, Amazon made it available prematurely b4 the release date. The audiobook is finished but waiting approval, should be available in 2 weeks, eBook available on release date June 29. For those who don't know: It's a unique 2 books in one: a novel+biz book. -MJ ✌️ https://amzn.to/3t2sqef

Had a reader send this to me, while it is a content marketing piece for a business broker & isn't my endorsement of them, it is a nice story on the Fastlane/Unscripted philosophy: big incomes, building assets & selling it, and living your dream. 🎸Yea, it's hard, but not any harder than 8-6 for 50yrs. πŸ—“οΈ

Thought this was poignant: "Fear does not prevent death. It prevents life." ~Buddha.

FYI for those who asked: The audiobook for The Great Rat Race Escape is now available worldwide on Audible, looked as if it had some delays. The book should be available now in all formats.

Here's a great behavioral economics pricing tactic: If your biz offers a very expensive product, even if you have no intent on selling it, you will sell more of your lower priced, normal products. The expensive product offers an "anchoring" to your other products, making them seem more valued. Eateries do this by offering very expensive wine which allows them to sell more of their normal priced wines. The high priced product is viewed in context of the other offers. Have a great weekend! ~MJ

Whenever you're faced with a decision with FEAR based concerns, try reminding yourself that one day, you will be dead. And it might be sooner than you think. I'm facing a big personal decision in my life and such perspective really helps minimize the FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) in the decision. Have a great day everyone! ~MJ

Amazing that a short 30 year old movie clip a mere 3 minutes long encapsulates the rat race and some of the sentiments I make in story behind The Great Rat Race Escape. You can't escape an economic religion until you admit you're trapped in one.

https://hbr.org/2016/09/the-elements-of-value

The 30 elements of "value": a must-read", almost as if I wrote it myself. At the end of the day, we're in the business of VALUE. But what is value? It is different for everyone, what's valuable to you, might be worthless to me. Strike more elements w/your audience = more money. Have a great weekend! πŸ–οΈ~MJ
