THE SOMEDAY PRINCIPLE: Regard "Someday" as a Lie that Really Means NEVER. (Page 26, The Great Rat Race Escape)
Someday is another dream-killing lie of "I'm waiting for some condition" before acting. In reality, one new condition replaces the fulfilled one. Here are just a few:
Someday I'll do X, but I'm waiting...
...for the New Year
...to finish school
...for a better job
...until the kids move out
...for a promotion
...to get out of debt
...until my vacation
...for a better opp/economy/President
...until I retire
FACT: The timing is NEVER right.
Key takeaways:
+ Someday is a lie, a code for NEVER.
+ Someday is an excuse for inaction, a bribe to dismiss today for a tomorrow that never comes.
+ Someday makes you feel better, like eating a tub of ice cream, but its impacts linger.
+ Someday is like betting on a fractal to end.
SOMEDAY must become TODAY.

The market is NEVER saturated if you offer a better product and a better value.
People who ask such questions aren't looking to create value, they're looking to chase money; which is why they ask about "saturation."
Bottomline: Think of the market like a raging river; it naturally gravitates toward value and value is the path of least resistance; the water doesn't care how fast or how much it is flowing; it simply goes where it needs to go.

Today's obvious not obvious observation...
The #1 richest guy on the planet (Bernard Arnault, $212 Billion) sells luxury products that makes middle-class/poor people feel rich, hence, keeping them middle-class/poor.
Interesting.

Those of you who visit The Fastlane Forum might have noticed there has been a weekly accountability call that has been going on for months.
It is FREE if anyone wants to join, I’ll post a link below.
The call is hosted by a nice young man who simply wanted to be accountable for his goals in the community with others.
Over the last year, I’ve watched this thread with great interest. What I witnessed were people continually failing (or disappearing) at meeting their weekly goals, even goals that aren’t terribly difficult to achieve.
Why?
It’s because they fail to use any system that supports their goals, namely a system that enforces hypervigilance in achieving the goal that is right in front of them.
Dramatic life change happens by winning days and then weeks.
That’s it.
For years, I used a pen/paper system (you can find it linked below),and then in the last year, I crafted and cofounded GoalSumo.com to solve my problems when I tried other productivity systems which lacked this hypervigilance — instead they were super complex with GANNT charts and various others superflous features.
Everything beyond the DAY and WEEK is superfluous and variable as goals, desires, and wants change as you develop into a new person who has achieved new things.
So if you’re struggling to move the needle on your life improvement, here’s what you can do. Immediately.
1️⃣ Set a weekly goal that will support a bigger goal in your life.
2️⃣ Make that goal the ONLY FOCUS for the week, keeping it front an center. GoalSumo actually allows you to set a “Weekly Goal Focus” so this is easily accomplished.
3️⃣ Task it daily, or if you’re using GoalSumo, chain that task to the weekly goal.
4️⃣ Keep that chained task front-and-center as a Power Task, the #1 thing you can do for your goals.
5️⃣ If you fail to achieve this task for your day, roll it over to the next day. KEEP IT ON YOUR TO DO LIST until you do the damn work! [GoalSumo automatically rolls incomplete tasks to the next day]
6️⃣ Complete the task, repeat 3 and 4.
7️⃣ After completing the weekly goal, repeat 1 - 6.
8️⃣ Do this for 90 days and report back on how much progress you’ve made toward a bigger, more ambitious goal.
📈 📈📈
Achieving goals isn’t rocket science and the whole process above is part of GoalSumo. Anyone can set a bold goal, but few people deploy the right systems to help them support those goals daily and weekly.
James Clear's most popular soundbite from his book Atomic Habits was "People do not rise to the level of their goals, they rise to the level of their systems."
As I’ve been saying for years, WIN THE DAY and WIN THE WEEK.
This is the basic fundamental groundwork for WINNING LIFE.

NOT A BOOMER BOOMER OBSERVATION: Recently, during an airline flight, I found myself seated beside a young man, probably around 13 years old...
I took note of the teen because he was working his smartphone with such vim and vigor, its lights flickering with activity.
However, what I saw was incredibly disturbing...
During the 2 hr flight, the teen was consumed by his phone, bouncing from app to app, game to podcast, without pause.
He had the INABILITY to remain engaged with a singular activity for more than 90 seconds. I think the high-water mark was an unfinished song that went for 2 minutes.
Whether it was listening to a podcast for a few seconds, playing a mobile game, or scrolling through some type of feed, his attention shifted relentlessly, each activity capturing his focus for no more than ninety seconds.
As the light flickered on his device for two hours and the self-induced dopamine hits pile up like trash, I felt incredibly sad for Gen Z and other kids like him.
How would someone like this ever write book?
Do deep work?
Focus on something important?
The fact is, he cannot.
Can you?
I became scatterbrained simply being next to it for two hours, and it gave me a grim prognosis for Gen Z. But I don't blame the kid, I blame permissive parents.
▶️ If you give your pre-teen kid the ultimate tool of mental destruction, expect them to struggle in all aspects of life.
As a culture we ask the WRONG questions and get the WRONG solutions.
Why is mental health so bad?
Suicides?
Why is 70% of America obese and/or pre-diabetic?
▶️ When you repeatedly knife yourself in the back and bleed, the solution isn't finding the right bandages, the solution is to stop stabbing yourself.

Three years ago, after 25 years, I traded Arizona's sun for Utah's mountains, upgrading my home from a plentiful 4,400 square feet to a sprawling 13,000. The game-changer? There were several, from an indoor basketball court to a home theater to the most important of all: a home gym.
At last, I could exercise in peace!
There were no more teenagers glued to their smartphones while "working out," no more meatheads glaring at me for using the leg press, and no more scantily clad fitness influencers parading around like they were on a modeling runway.
Finally, it was just me, my workout, and the freedom to exercise shirtless without an audience. I could also blast my music as loud as I wanted.
As you can expect, my workouts became more consistent. I no longer had to commute to a gym, so working out was as simple as walking downstairs. It was the first time I had not had a gym membership in 30 years.
But something interesting happened...

Another example of altering environments: My wife wears a Whoop which is another biometric health tracker.
I already have an Oura ring and have no complaints, and certainly wasn't looking for another device to monitor my HRV, sleep, and other biometrics.
However when she showed me the app, and it ranked you in comparison to others in your age group (a quasi-competition) I immediately bought one.
This was a value skew that compelled me to buy.
It also allowed me to manipulate my environment and see how I'm doing around other people my age.
My Oura does not do that.
If this type of "motivation" works for you, then do it.
For other people, it might be the opposite!
Whatever you find that works better for you, do it!
And yes, that might be quiting the gym to workout in solitude.

Imagine if you could step into a time machine and dial the date back to your 18th birthday. Old-you is going to have a heart-to-heart chat with young-you. What words of wisdom would you share?
If you are in your 40s or 50s, what would you share with 25-year-old you?
👴❓
This practical thought experiment is a focused lens of self-reflection through which you can evaluate your life choices, lessons learned, and personal growth.
This introspection is also invaluable because it empowers you to learn from other Fastlaner's wisdom so you can be better equipped to fight through the struggle.
This post is a sneak peek of this week's newsletter, which is due out later this week. You can subscribe here. The "chat with your younger self" question is based on a long-standing forum post packed with wisdom, which can be viewed here.
Here are just a few responses among many others which will be revealed...
💡Refuse to judge yourself for the time already wasted
💡Stop waiting...
💡Stop waiting to ask the girl out.
💡Stop waiting for the employer to call you back with a job offer.
💡Stop waiting to be happy.
💡Stop waiting for your ship to come.
💡Stop waiting for somebody to save you.
💡Stop waiting for a mentor and go get them yourself.
💡Stop waiting for better friends to come into your life. Get them yourself.
💡Stop waiting to live the life you've always wanted. Get it yourself.
💡Making money has absolutely nothing to do with money. Solve problems and create value. Be ambitious in terms of value creation and knowledge.
💡Don't be limited by your past. Your vision of the future is the best indicator for success contrary to popular belief that the past is the best indicator of future success.
💡From someone whose father passed away early... "Son, I gave the best years of my life to somebody else. Don't make the same mistake."
💡And one of the most famous time machine statement from Steve Jobs...
💡You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well worn path; and that will make all the difference.
Again, this is just a few bits of wisdom that I'll share in this week's newsletter.
Have a great week!
MJ

I subscribe to about 60-70 newsletters.
Most of them are offered by gurus and have devolved into a perpetual sales pitch for some high-priced coaching program.
Folks, don’t fall for the pitch. 🤦
Your success won’t be found in some overpriced coaching program peddled by a guru.
These gurus all share the same foundational spin: that there’s some magic formula, some silver bullet, some secret to success when all they are doing is a “perceived value hustle” and selling it to the gullible in some expensive coaching program.
Here's the easiest and fastest masterclass on how to make millions, and it won't cost you thousands of dollars or countless hours of time sifting through fluff stolen from books written years ago.
Folks, it is this simple.
Create, communicate, and deliver perceived value to the world.
Here is that simple sentence deconstructed:
1️⃣Create - product development, real value with genuine value skews.
2️⃣Communicate perceived value- marketing.
3️⃣Deliver - execution/logistics
4️⃣World - Scale, selling to more people.
Like all guru garbage being sold on YouTube and elsewhere, the problem is that “perceived value” is wrapped up in slick marketing, and real, actual value tends not to live up to the hype. For gurus, the game is won when you buy their $5,000 program, not in the value you receive and execute upon.
💡This is why marketing is valued above all disciplines in the guruverse—you win at crafting perceived value while not being obligated to fulfill those expectations.
The world wants shortcuts and secrets.
And there are millions of gurus out there who are willing to fill that market need and sell you that illusion.
Don't be fooled.
If someone is offering you 1, 2 ,3, and 4 as a "business in a box" -- YOU ARE THE BUSINESS.
Class is dismissed.

Here's a follow up to a question about, "Who can you trust?" which stemmed from my last guru post.
Yes, there are plenty of experts out there you can trust, and many of them won't charge you $3,000 for a PDF. Here is my follow up:
######
Your statement implies that you can't trust anyone with advice to give.
Sure you can.
However if that advice costs you thousands and is from someone with a spurious/unknown track record, you are likely being fleeced.
I don't take fitness advice from fat people who can't climb a flight of stairs.
I don't take money advice from self-proclaimed "multi-millionaires" who can't seem to get out of their seedy 1-bedroom apartments.
I don't take business advice from people who never started a business.
I don't take coaching advice from coaches who never finished a race.
It speaks to one's character when you are giving advice to people who are struggling financially, yet, they want to charge you $2,000 for some PDF and 3 videos. There's your red flag.
I can buy a book on Amazon for $15 and get billionaire advice from countless billionaires. Same goes from others who built great things without the famous persona.
Knowledge is generally cheap, acquiring it through discipline and grit, is not. Experience is ALSO the best teacher.
Or, you can spend $3,000 on Greg Guru's course who's best claim to fame is 90K followers on YouTube while he stands in front of a 15 year old Lamborghini Gallardo that costs about as much as my front door, LOL.
As I like to say, learning to make a fortune shouldn't cost a fortune.
And this goes for all types of disciplines, not just money.
I consider my wife an expert in longevity who is more knowledgeable than the average GP doctor. All her knowledge was secured by information absorption that is freely available or cheaply bought in books.
The cost of that education was virtually free in terms of $$, but I imagine she’s racked up over 2000 hours of assimilation.
If you’re buying a shortcut, you’re buying an illusion.

If you want to succeed in life, you should avoid getting emotionally involved in rap feuds such as this Drake/Lamar thing. Or other immaterial cultural stupidities that leech time and drain emotions from what matters.
The drama, much less the outcome has zero impact on your life.
Invest your energy in things that matter and directly imbue meaningful results in your life.
The whole thing reminds me of people who weep like babies in the stands after their football team loses the championship.
Why does it matter to you? What is missing in your life that a void needs to be filled by some pro sports team? A team, BTW, filled with multi-millionaires playing out THEIR DREAMS?
When your team wins, you don't win a free vacation. You don't win freedom, money, or accolades. And no, you don't get "respect" simply because you live in the same city as some pro football club.
Cheering for a team is great (yes, I do it) but I have zero emotional involvement. It is communal entertainment, nothing more, nothing less.
Focus on what matters, and what you can control.
Matters that culture deems important will render your life, unimportant.
Let it go.

Don’t be directly indirect, indefinitely.
There’s action-faking, and action-taking.
Guess which one is which?
Joe woke up at 5am.
Took a cold shower.
Meditated for 1 hour.
Went to the gym for 1 hour.
Joe came home and watched 2 hours of Huberman podcasts.
Joe read 2 hours of business books.
Joe meditated again.
Joe posted 4 items of content on social media.
Jill slept in and woke up at 12 pm.
Jill called 10 people and emailed 100 her offer.
Jill made one sale and earned $500.
Jill finished at 1pm.
Folks, while there is incredible value in meditating, cold showers, and hitting the gym, the fact is none of it DIRECTLY moves you closer to your first sale. You could argue INDIRECTLY, but what I see is most people are "directly indirect—indefinitely."

This was posted on the Fastlane Forum and I think it represents entrepreneurship as there is a lot of trial and error, failures, etc. Yup, it's a lot of the wrong doors which even I find myself in... but it's definitely a lot better than spending your life — in a job — which is the wrong room.

Imagine you're chained to a railroad track.
In the distance, you hear the ominous clatter of an approaching train. Your heart pounds like a jackhammer, and every beat is a desperate reminder that time is slipping away.
The lock mechanism trapping you on the tracks can only be solved if you decipher the Latin passcode etched on its surface.
Death is around the corner if you don't take action and translate the code from Latin to English. As a bonus, a ten-million-dollar suitcase sits next to the tracks if you solve the code and set yourself free.
Unfortunately, you don't know Latin, and your smartphone isn't in your pocket. However, behind you is a stack of books piled 6 feet high and 3 feet wide.

FYI, in case you haven't visited the forum lately, or are not part of the Fastlane Newsletter... due to excessive abuse and disrespect of my time and resources (spammers, backlinkers, promoters, trolls, low effort users) the forum is now a paid and private membership community.

Be warned: I do NOT reach out to anyone with unsolicited invites to events, coaching, or seminars. YOU ARE BEING SCAMMED by an impersonator.
If you alledgedly hear from "me" (The Unscripted Entrepreneurial Network with the same picture) inviting you to some opportunity, you are being deceived.

Profiting in business is as much as convincing people to buy as much as not turning them off, or what I call NEGATIVE SKEW.
Negative Skew is a specific item in the consumer buying process that is a deal-breaker, transforming would-be buyers into lost sales.
Here's an example:
I was ready to buy this scale from Withings until I read this scathing review.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/ROS7WQGCDDGG5
Instant turn-off. I went from a customer ready to buy, to a walk-away -- their product convinced me to buy, their execution convinced me NOT to.
Negative skew.
If I wanted to be ignored and treated like an unimportant POS, I can try to contact Google, Facebook, or the IRS. I don't need it from a company supposedly with a mission of better health.
Negative skews are deal-breakers, much like a reason to ghost a date after one night out.
