An Algerian migrant who sexually assaulted a terrified 16-year-old girl in an alleyway near one of Britain's busiest train stations, has avoided jail.

Sofiane Belasri, 40, approached a group of teenagers at London's Liverpool Street train station and initially offered to buy them alcohol before molesting the teen after telling her she was "beautiful".

Belasri denied the offence but was convicted earlier this year and on Monday at Southwark Crown Court he escaped prison as he was handed a two-year suspended sentence.

A Royal Mail worker who exploited his position to intercept suspected drug parcels and redirect them to alternative addresses has been jailed after police uncovered more than £1.2 million in cash.

Amjad Ali, 50, of Olivia Drive, Slough, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison at Reading Crown Court on Thursday, 3 September.

Thames Valley Police said the investigation resulted in the largest cash seizure ever made by the force, with £1,185,420 discovered inside a storage locker linked to Ali.

A further £42,290 was recovered from his home.

In total, the Police seized £1,227,710 in cash.

Investigators believe the money represented proceeds generated through the onward sale of cannabis.
