Did you know that when the 'Windrush Generation' of Afro-Carribeans began arriving in the UK hardly anyone would rent them properties?
Yet one highly unscrupulous slum lord saw an opportunity and started using properties in Notting Hill.
This led to sever racial tension and the 1958 riots.
He fought alongside the 'polish resistance' in the Second World War as his family lived there.

Rhaune Laslett was the true founder of the 'Notting Hill Carnival'.
She was President of The London Free School where the aims were "to promote cooperation and understanding between people of various races and creeds through education and through working together."
She set up the Carnival so that:
"West Indians, Africans, Irish and many other nationalities all live in a very congested area, there is very little communication between us. If we can infect them with a desire to participate then this can only have good results."
She was always very evasive about her own background claiming she was part 'American Indian'.
Except some basic research shows that her Mother's maiden name was:
Betsy Noskovitch
This may explain a few things...

Colin Wright, the leader of Reform UK in Wokingham, has praised a Cinema being converted into a new Islamic Centre for study and worship.
