A former head of the UK drugs regulator that approves 'vaccines and medicines' has been banned from working as a doctor after failing to reveal his convictions for child sex offences.

Dr Ian Hudson trained as a paediatrician and worked in the pharmaceutical industry before going on to serve as chief executive of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for six years.

The panel heard Hudson was convicted at Chelmsford Magistrate's Court in 2024 of two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

A nursery worker in Bristol, UK, has been found guilty of multiple counts of rape and sexual assault against five toddlers - in a case described as "every parent's nightmare".

Nathan Bennett, 30, was found guilty at Bristol Crown Court of two charges of raping a child under 13, four of the sexual assault of a child under 13, and two charges of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.

A prominent criminal barrister who was caught with child abuse material has been found dead by suicide.

Mark Dennis SC, 60, stepped off a flight from South-East Asia at Sydney Airport in January and was stopped by Australian Border Force officers, who went through his phone, tablet, laptop, and a USB.

They found child abuse material and sexualised conversations with and about minors, and he was subsequently charged with possessing, distributing and importing child abuse material.

Police were called to his Leichhardt home, in Sydney's inner west, where the barrister’s body was found at 7.30pm on Monday.

Dr Ju Young Um, 34, was jailed for 18 months after being found guilty of 23 voyeurism offences at Glasgow Sheriff Court in June last year. The anaesthetist, who worked in the Glasgow area, had rigged out his property in Hyndland with the hidden devices.

The medic was brought to justice when one victim became suspicious after noticing two air fresheners which appeared to face the toilet and shower. On closer inspection, hidden cameras were discovered inside the plastic containers - prompting a further search of the rented bedroom.
