BBC writes: Young women say they were taught how to open a bank account in school, but not how to change a tampon or spot signs of cancer.

"As a person from an ethnic minority background, in some communities it's actually taboo and quite a sensitive topic to talk about, so if you're not able to learn about these things in school, then where do you learn?" said 23-year-old Athika Ahmed.

Ofcom has said it has never heard from a porn company it has fined ยฃ1m for failing to comply with the UK Online Safety Act.

It said it had been emailing AVS Group Ltd since it launched its investigation in July, but had not had a response at any point - so the firm had been fined an extra ยฃ50,000.

The Act makes it a legal requirement for websites that host pornographic material to put in place what the regulator determines to be "highly effective age assurance" to prevent children from being able to easily access explicit content.

Ofcom said AVS must now implement highly effective age assurance within 72 hours or face an additional penalty of ยฃ1,000 a day.

Three men and a woman have been arrested in East Sussex as part of an investigation into extreme right-wing terrorism.

The arrests were carried out by specialist officers in Eastbourne and Brighton.

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) said a 27-year-old woman from Hailsham was arrested, along with three men from Eastbourne, aged 33, 36 and 41.

All are being held under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 while searches take place at residential properties.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Rayland said the arrests were "part of a planned operation" supported by Sussex Police.

"People living in the local area may notice an increased police presence while search activity takes place, which is routine in cases of this nature," said Mr Rayland.

Around 200 homes have been evacuated and a major incident declared as police arrested two men on suspicion of explosives offences.

Police carried out a warrant in Vulcan Street, Derby, and arrested a man in his 40s and another in his 50s.

Residents were warned they might hear a controlled "bang" as the Army's explosive ordinance division deals with the situation.

It's not being treated as a terrorism incident and police said there was no wider risk to the community.

A cordon has been put in place.

The brother-in-law of Humza Yousaf has gone on trial accused of extortion and dealing class A drugs. It follows the death of a man who fell from a window in Dundee after allegedly being threatened.

Ramsay El-Nakla, 37, has gone on trial at the High Court in Edinburgh with 3 others after the death of Ryan Munro on January 10, 2024.

Court papers allege they โ€œdid threaten and intimidate him, thereby placing him in an extreme state of fear and alarm for his safety, and cause said Ryan Munro to escape said flat from a window at height, causing him to fall from said window and strike the ground, whereby he was so severely injured that he died there and you did kill himโ€.

El-Nakla, of Dundee, is accused of dealing cocaine from the flat between January 9 and 11 2024, as well as at another home in the city, which he denies.

Reform UK has received a record ยฃ9m donation from cryptocurrency investor and aviation entrepreneur Christopher Harborne, new figures from the Electoral Commission show.

It is the largest ever single donation by a living person to a British political party.

Mr Harborne, who is British but lives in Thailand, has previously given large sums to the Conservatives under Boris Johnson's leadership, as well as Reform's predecessor the Brexit Party in 2019 and 2020.

While the next general election is not due until 2029, the donation comes ahead of local elections next May.

A lynch mob has beaten a man to death, hacked off his genitals and dragged his body through the streets as punishment after accusing him of raping a disabled woman.

Ali, 47, was hunted by furious locals for raping and assaulting the woman in Gowa, Indonesia, on November 30.

Passersby immediately recognised the suspect, allegedly notorious for terrorising the area with frequent thefts, and lynched him, wielding sticks, stones, and machetes.

The vigilantes were said to have 'chopped up' his genitals before parading his limp body, hogtied to wooden poles, past homes in scenes of mob justice.

Britons are being warned to wear face masks as the NHS faces a 'historic crisis' this winter amid looming strikes and record numbers of people in hospital with flu.

Amid the so-called 'flunami', the UK Health Security Agency says coverings 'continue to be a useful tool in limiting the spread respiratory viruses in some situations'.

They also say masks can protect the person wearing them from becoming infected with other respiratory viruses such as Covid-19 or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Netflix has agreed to buy the film and streaming businesses of Warner Bros Discovery for $72bn (ยฃ54bn) in a major Hollywood deal.

Netflix co-chief executive Ted Sarandos said the streamer was "highly confident" it would receive the regulatory approval it needs and it was running "full speed" towards this.

He said that by combining the library of Warner Bros shows and movies with the streaming platform's series such as Stranger Things, "we can give audiences more of what they love and help define the next century of storytelling".

"Warner Bros have defined the last century of entertainment, and together we can define the next one," he said.
