Scores of children to get puberty blockers on NHS in UK from 2026
The first patients are expected to be available for recruitment in the new year, with researchers hopeful that more than 200 children could eventually join the study.

Dozens of children in the UK will be administered puberty blockers on the NHS in the UK from early 2026. A clinical trial examining the effects of these drugs is set to commence, with recruitment for the first patients expected to begin in the new year - although it will not be available in Scotland.

King's College London researchers are optimistic that over 200 children could participate in the study, with results anticipated in approximately four years. Some participants may continue taking the medication beyond the trial if it is deemed "clinically appropriate".

The government is set to extend the Electric Car Grant scheme by a year as it announced another £1.5bn towards supporting the UK's transition to electric vehicles.

A Royal Navy patrol ship has intercepted two Russian vessels off the UK coast, the Ministry of Defence has said.

Woman murdered by 13 year old girl in her own home has been named as Sarah Forrester.

A 13-year-old girl was arrested by police on suspicion of murder but has since been bailed.

Detective Inspector Darren Ambrose, from the Major Crime Investigation Team, said: 'This is a serious incident in which a woman has sadly died.

Wiltshire Police said 'I can confirm that we have arrested a teenage girl in connection with this incident and we are not looking for anyone else.'
