Residents chanted 'Starmer out' as thousands attended a protest against plans to house 600 lone male asylum seekers at an army camp on the edge of their town.
Crowborough army training camp in East Sussex has been lined up to house the refugees as part of Labour's bid to reduce the use of asylum hotels.
Locals said they have already installed panic alarms in their homes amid safety fears, while raising concerns about the 600 migrants registering with GPs in the county, with some already struggling to book appointments.

Rachel Reeves 'is set to announce a milkshake tax'.
The Chancellor is believed to be gearing up to make sweeping changes to the Soft Drinks Industry Levy.
It is thought that Reeves will axe the exemption that currently stops milk-based and milk-substitute drinks from being eligible for the tax.

Very interesting development as Donald Trump refuses to disavow Tucker Carlson after interviewing Nick Fuentes, praising Carlsonโs support of him, and saying he doesnโt know much about Fuentes. Trump further insisted Tucker is free to interview whoever, and Tucker should โget the word out.โ

A rapist who has avoided being deported for more than a decade could receive compensation because an electronic tag made him 'depressed'.
Mustafa Taskiran may be granted compensation as lawyers engage in legal arguments over whether 'appropriate relief' should be given to the Turkish migrant.
A High Court judge, Mr Justice Lavender, ruled in his favour just days prior to the 48-year-old confessing to stalking and threatening to kill a woman with a knife.
Taskiran is expected to be sentenced this month.
He told the court that the tag caused him 'intense physical and mental distress' due to its heaviness and discomfort.
It comes after decades of crime - beginning four years after the Turkish man was granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK in 1994.

A nine-year-old boy who allegedly raped and brutally attacked a five-year-old girl had been allowed to return home despite the devastated victim's mother's pleas.
This case resulted in a five-year-old being 'left naked, beaten and urinated upon in a field and left for hours,' prosecutors argued at the hearing, according to WOIO.
'At a very minimum, the State is requesting home detention with an ankle monitor.'
The boy, who has not been identified due to his age, appeared in Juvenile Court in Ohio on Thursday when he denied the allegations against him.

Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh's ousted prime minister, has been sentenced to death after being convicted of crimes against humanity.
It follows a months-long trial in the country that found her guilty of ordering a deadly crackdown on a student-led uprising last year.
The former leader, exiled in India, was tried in absentia after the United Nations said up to 1,400 people may have been killed in the violence.

A five-year-old girl has been ordered to keep the surname of her rapist father after a High Court judge found it formed a key part of the child's identity and heritage.
Mr Justice Peel made the ruling at an appeal in relation to a child, referred to in court as D, despite the history of serious domestic abuse.
D's mother argued that her daughter being tied to the name of a rapist was retraumatising.

A masseur who sexually assaulted five women during treatments at a luxury spa in Wokingham has been spared jail.
Ibrahim Ali assaulted the women, who had booked in for back and foot massages, at the Nirvana Spa in Sindlesham, near Wokingham, Berkshire, in November and December last year.
The women reported that Ali, 36, made them take all their clothes off and put on paper underwear, even if they did not want to, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.
He pulled the towel covering their bodies down lower than necessary and touched them inappropriately.
The CPS said all of the women reported Aliโs behaviour to staff at the spa, but it was when one of them went to the police in December 2024 that an investigation was launched.
Ali, who previously admitted to the charges, was sentenced to two years in jail suspended for two years at Reading Crown Court, sitting at Reading Magistratesโ Court, on Monday, court officials said.
