A failed asylum seeker who raped a young woman after marching her out of a York nightclub was notorious for targeting lone women there, a court heard.

Eid Anwar Fathi Najjar, 20, arrived in the UK illegally on a small boat three years ago and now faces a lengthy prison sentence after being branded 'a sexual predator'.

His victim - described by witnesses as 'completely out of it' - had become separated from her friends during a pub crawl in the popular tourist city in the early hours of July 6.

When the woman tried to get a taxi, Najjar frogmarched her in the other direction.

She was later seen walking around the city centre partially naked after being raped by Najjar, apparently in an alleyway.

Najjar, understood to be originally from Egypt, was traced after CCTV from the nightclub was examined.

Anthony Marks, 51, was hit with a car bonnet then chased down, stamped on and beaten with a gin bottle before he was left for dead by the three teenage girls.

Police officers found him with serious injuries to his face and arms at King's Cross Station at around 5.25am on Saturday, August 10 last year.

He died from his injuries on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

The teenage killers posed for smiling photographs both before and after the brutal murder and shared a video singing and laughing in a car.

An Israeli-Ukrainian man has been arrested in Moscow, accused of running a global organ trafficking ring.

Russian authorities say Boris Wolfman recruited kidney donors from all over Eastern Europe and arranged illegal transplants in Kosovo.

Authorities said the donors were promised payments of 15,000 to 17,000 euros for their kidneys but were never paid and were left without medical care after the operations. Russian law enforcement officials said they had monitored the group’s activities for more than 20 years. If convicted, Wolfman could face up to 15 years in prison in Russia.
