Carlsen - Beliavsky Amsterdam 2006 Black to move
1...Bxd5! 2.Bxd5
2.exd5 e4! the bishop on g7 wakes up and a passed pawn appears on the e-file.
Intending ...Bd8, ...c7-c6 and ...Bb6(+) in order to activate the bishop.
With the double idea of 9...Nxe4 and 9...Ref8. Black is clearly better – Beliavsky.
Redirecting the passive bishop to the h3-c8 diagonal where it will complicate Black's long castling.
1...Nxg3? 2.Rh8 Bf8 3.Bh3 Qd6 4.Qe1! Ngh5 5.f4 , destroying the black defence
The game saw 2.Rh8+?! Bf8 3.Bh3 Qd6 4.f4 Nxd5 and Black eventually saved a draw.
