Tata Steel 12: Abdusattorov on brink as Carlsen misses win
Nodirbek Abdusattorov is a draw against Jorden van Foreest away from at least a playoff for the Tata Steel Masters title after he drew against Wesley So in Round 12. Anish Giri, who could have caught him, survived by the skin of his teeth against Jorden, while Magnus Carlsen called his missed win against Praggnanandhaa a β€œbackbreaker”. Another point is that Parham Maghsoodloo won again in this round.
Magnus Carlsen missed a great chance against Praggnanandhaa

Anish Giri wins Tata Steel Masters after late twist
In a late twist at the Tata Steel Masters, Anish Giri leapfrogged Nodirbek Abdusattorov on the final day of action to claim a first title in his home super-tournament. In round 13, Giri defeated Richard Rapport, while 2021 champion Jorden van Foreest got the better of long-time leader Abdusattorov. Meanwhile, Magnus Carlsen and Parham Maghsoodloo also ended the tournament with wins to their names.
Dances with Knights
Knights protecting each other generally lack mobility. How can you render one of your opponent's knights ineffective? How can you avoid being stuck with one yourself and keep your knights flexible? Let's ride!

White to move
15.Nb1!?
Retreating the knight back to its initial square! When considering the position that has arisen now, you will soon note that the knight on e4 is in a precarious position. White threatens to follow up with Ne5. He will also try to build a strong pawn center with e2-e4, after which the mobility of Black's minor pieces will be considerably restricted. Besides these concrete ideas, Dvoretsky's concept of superfluous pieces may have crossed Nielsen's mind. After all, three black pieces are aiming for the same square ( e4). By avoiding exchanges White renders at least one of these redundant.
