In order to imprison Black's bishop just before he vacates the f8-square by ...Rfe8 or ...Rfc8.
2...Bh8 3.Nh2 f6 4.f4! fxe5 5.fxe5 Nc7 6.Be3
From now White is basically a piece up and should just try to neutralize Black's temporary initiative.
6...Nb5 7.Kd2 Rac8 8.a4 Nc3 9.Rhc1 Ne4+ 10.Kd3 Kf7 11.Nf3 Ke6 12.Ng5+!
Swapping the more active (to say the least) of Black's minor pieces. This also helps to improve his own bishop,
12...Nxg5 13.Bxg5 Kf5 14.Be7! Rfe8 15.Rxc8 Rxc8 16.Rf1+ Ke6 17.Bd6 a6 18.g4 g5 19.Rf5 Rg8 20.Ba3!
Finally Black is in zugzwang. There followed:
20...Rg6 21.Bf8 Rg8 22.Bb4 a5 23.Bd6 Rc8 24.Rxg5
White soon won.
Vescovi - Skembris
Copenhagen 1995
White to move
Imprisoning three black pieces on a6, a8 and b8.
1...Bb7 2.Qd3 Re8 3.Rfd1
Overprotecting the crucial d6-pawn.
3...Re6 4.Ne1! Qg6 5.Qg3!
Very clever. It is worth a pawn to swap off Black's active pieces, so that he is left with only bad ones.
5...Qxg3
5...Qxe4? 6.Bf3 +-
6.hxg3 Bxe4 7.Bf3! Bxf3 8.gxf3 e4 9.f4
Despite his minus pawn, White is winning.
