By attacking the bishop White gets ready for 2 Qc7, seizing the seventh rank.

1...Qa6 2.Qxa6 Bxa6 3.Rc7 h6 was preferable. White has still managed to seize the seventh rank, but he doesn't win a pawn as in the game.
2.Qc7! Qxc7 3.Rxc7 h6
In order to parry the threat of 4 Ng5, Black has to give up a pawn.
4.Rxb7 Rac8 5.b3 Rc2 6.a4 Be2 7.Nh4!
