Rochelle Ballantyne leapt into the chess community’s collective consciousness with the 2012 release of Brooklyn Castle, a documentary that chronicled the triumphs and struggles of the I.S. 318 chess team in New York.

One of the first players to be awarded the GM title in its inaugural year, 1950, Tartakower wrote several books, the most famous of which, "The Hypermodern Chess Game" (1924) has been issued in almost 100 editions.
2-time Polish Champion Tartakower was one of the main organizers of the Chess Olympiad in Warsaw in 1935.
France had a lot of strong chess-players. Tartakower, Alekhine, Spasskij and now Firouzja. All however being born outside of France. How did MVL manage to make it ti the top, despite being actually born in France?
