🔸European Team Championship 2017
🔸Round 5
⚪️Mamedyarov,Shakhriyar (2791)
⚫️Navara,David (2726)
🔸1-0
⚫️#93 (Strategy-Black to Move)
🔸Ivkov,Borislav
🔸Spassky,Boris
🔸Piatigorsky-Cup 1966
📕 29...e5?! to play Ne6-d4 is not exact as it give up the d5 outpost to white after 30.Nc3 and black's advantage has reduced.
29...g5?! weakens the kingside and white can continue by 30.hg hg 31.Nf2
The simple 30...Kf8 is best. From e7 the black king prevents queen invasions from the d file and if queen exchange becomes possible the king is ready to be activated from the center.
⚪️#94 (Strategy-White to Move)
🔸Spassky,Boris
🔸Petrosian,Tigran
🔸Moscow 1966
📕 When the opponents have castled on opposite wings initiative is the most important factor. Petrosian is ready to play Rab8 and c5. The young challenger, Spassky, correctly decided to play 13.h4! to activate the rook from h3. From h3 the rook can be quickly trasfered to all files! In addition white may have the oppotunity to play Qg5 to exchange queens and go for a better endgame based on better pawn structure.

🔸Round 7
⚪️Darini,Pouria (2481)
⚫️Abu Sufian,Shakil (2322)
🔸1-0
📘 GM Darini decides to open the position based on his development advantage.
His quoets in the live interview after the game:
"Because I have better development, I prefer to open the game. Normal development with Bd3 can be replied with Nc6 and after retaking on c6 black can play Ne7-g6 with an easy game.
🔸2nd Paytakht Cup 2017 Tehran
🔸Round 8
⚪️Tabatabaei,M.amin (2566)
⚫️Sibashvili,Giorgi (2412)
🔸1-0
📘 1.a3
After the game Tabatabaei claimed that he has always won his games by 1.a3. Even the world champion, Magnus Carlsen has tried this move in rapid and blitz.
This move can be played to surprise the opponents by the players with vast opening repertoire. After this move black can start the game as if he is white. The main point is in which openings a3 will be meaningless.
