Before the tournament, he spent a few days in Moscow to fix the jetlag problem, and came to Khanty-Mansiysk with his father.

Most of the second round participants were determined at the FIDE World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk. 23 matches will continue on tiebreaks tomorrow.
