Grandmaster (2004). In 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2012, he won the Polish championship. Placed 3rd in the 2nd Lublin Union Memorial Tournament held in Poland in May 2010* and won the Aeroflot Open (2012) with 6.5/9, on tiebreak (more games with Black) from co-leaders Anton Korobov and Pavel Eljanov. Played board 6 for the Czech team G-Team Novy Bor, helping it to win the European Club Cup (2013). =1st (3rd on tiebreak) at the Moscow Open - A in February 2014. In March 2015, Bartel placed =2nd (3rd on tiebreak) at the European Individual Championship (2015), thereby qualifying for the World Cup (2015), where he was paired with Gabriel Sargissian in the first round only to go down in a bitterly fought series of tiebreakers, finally conceding the match and further progress in the Cup when as White he drew the final Armageddon blitz game.

πŸ“š Simon Kim Williams is an English chess grandmaster and author. He learned to play chess at the age of 6 and received his first FIDE rating at the age of 12, when he weighed in at 2255. He played in numerous British, European and World Youth and Junior events between 1993 when he placed 16th in the European U14 Championship and 1998 and 1999 when he competed in the World Junior Championships as an International Master.

Simon has been a regular participant in many British events in the last two decades since 1993. He first played in the British Championship in 1993 when he was 13 years old and has competed in every British Championship since then (apart from 1996 and 2006). His best results have been:
❗️ =2nd behind Jonathan Rowson in the Smith & Williamson British Championships (2004);
❗️ =3rd in British Championship (2008) behind Keith Arkell and Stuart Conquest, and
❗️ =2nd in British Championship (2009), half point behind David Howell alongside Mark Hebden.
He also played in the immensely powerful European Individual Championships in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
