Grandmaster (2004). In 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2012, he won the Polish championship. Placed 3rd in the 2nd Lublin Union Memorial Tournament held in Poland in May 2010* and won the Aeroflot Open (2012) with 6.5/9, on tiebreak (more games with Black) from co-leaders Anton Korobov and Pavel Eljanov. Played board 6 for the Czech team G-Team Novy Bor, helping it to win the European Club Cup (2013). =1st (3rd on tiebreak) at the Moscow Open - A in February 2014. In March 2015, Bartel placed =2nd (3rd on tiebreak) at the European Individual Championship (2015), thereby qualifying for the World Cup (2015), where he was paired with Gabriel Sargissian in the first round only to go down in a bitterly fought series of tiebreakers, finally conceding the match and further progress in the Cup when as White he drew the final Armageddon blitz game.
