β The 16th Chess Championship of the USSR was held in Moscow from November 10th to December 13th, 1948. Nineteen of the Soviet Union's top grandmasters were assembled to participate. Among them were the participants of the SaltsjΓΆbaden Interzonal (1948), including the winner David Bronstein, as well as Alexander Kotov, Andor Lilienthal, Igor Bondarevsky, Salomon Flohr, Viacheslav Ragozin, and the previous year's champion, Paul Keres. Bronstein and Kotov shared first place, each with 12/18.

β The 16th Chess Championship of the USSR was held in Moscow from November 10th to December 13th, 1948. Nineteen of the Soviet Union's top grandmasters were assembled to participate.
