📚 Vladimir Zak Grigorievich is a chess player, a chess teacher and a Soviet coach born February 11, 1913 in Berdichev , Ukraine, and died on November 25, 1994 in Pavlovsk (St. Petersburg) . Emeritus coach of the USSR, Zak was for more than thirty years in charge of the Pioneers' Palace of Leningrad from 1945. He was responsible for the development of world champion Boris Spassky , world championship finalists Viktor Kortchnoï and Gata Kamsky, grand masters Gennadi Sosonko ,Valeri Salov and Aleksandr Kochiev and the great female teacher and USSR champion Larissa Volpert .

❗️ [ Larisa Ilinichna Volpert was a Soviet chess Woman Grandmaster and Russian and Estonian philologist. She was a three time Soviet women's chess champion.]

📚 Vladimir Zak is a co-author with Viktor Korchnoi of a famous book on the king's gambit , translated into English in 1974.
