🔸GM Elshan Moradiabadi game analysis of the World Cup
⚪️Liren Ding Vs ⚫️Wesley So
📗10.Ne1 A novelty but every engines first choice! This is a very very strong move! which puts black through a difficult decision-making process.
📗17...Qb8 This is what probably Wesley So had in mind: A passive endgame where he does not have any structural problem. However, he grossly underestimated white's resources in this position. Black has no evident counter play whatsoever and white can gradually improve his position. This is a long and ,if things had gone Ding Liren's way, painful suffering for Wesley.
📗18.Qxb8! Ulf Andersson would have loved this position!
📗23.e4! White dominated the board, now it is time to expand and gain more space. Black is super-solid but lack of enough active resources turn this into a difficult situaiton.
📗36.Nc5! The rook endgame could be another long suffering as black has no good move with his rooks while white can gradullay improve his position on both sides.

The main line and popular move. With the idea of
(Nc3-B.f6-e4) controling the center.
