Efim Bogoljubow (1889-1952) won the USSR ch in 1924 & the German Open in 1924, thus became the only player to hold the USSR and German ch at the same time. He also won the USSR ch in 1925, then emigrated to Germany in 1926. After that, he was considered a traitor by the Soviets.
