She was a member of the gold medal-winning Russian team in the 2014 Women's Chess Olympiad and the 2017 Women's World Team Chess Championship.

In 2010, she was runner up to Anna Muzychuk with 10.5/13 at the World Junior Championship (Girls) (2010) in Poland, second at the Women's Russian Championship with 6.5/9, and scored 6/10 on board 2 for Russia 2 at the Chess Olympiad (Women) (2010). Her equal second in the August 2010 Russian Women's Championship behind WGM Nazi Paikidze qualified her for the 60th Russian Women's Superfinal (2010) in November 2010, at which time she scored 4.5/11 although one of her two wins was against Alisa Galliamova, who was equal first in the tournament. She scored 4.5/9 in the Moscow Open 2011 B - Young GM in January 2011 and in August 2011 she came second in the World Junior Championships (Girls) (2011). She won the Moscow Open - B (women's division in the event) in 2014 outright after beating wunderkind Aleksandra Goryachkina in the final round. She collected 4.5 points on reserve board at the World Team Chess Championship (Women) (2017) in 6 games for Russia's reserve board, securing their team the win.
âŚď¸ Girya qualified for the FIDE Knock-out Women's World Championship (2012) and defeated IM Iweta Radziewicz Rajlich in the first round before losing to French GM Marie Sebag in the second round.
