♦️ Simen Agdestein is a Norwegian who has excelled in chess, chess coaching and football.
He is also an author of several books. Agdestein is a chess grandmaster.

♦️ Simen Agdestein was awarded the IM title in 1983 and the GM title in 1985. He has won seven Norwegian chess championships, including the Norwegian Championship (2005). He was one a nominees to the World Cup (2013), but was eliminated from the Cup when he lost to Etienne Bacrot in the first round.

♦️ He is also the former coach of Magnus Carlsen, and is the brother of Carlsen's present manager, Espen Agdestein. He has authored and co-authored several books on chess, including a biography of Carlsen.
