Spectators during the 1960 world chess championship match between Mikhail Botvinnik and Mikhail Tal. The lost luxury of being able to analyze a wild Tal game without the temptation of a smartphone, Stockfish or YouTube's comment box.

As Mother’s Day approaches, we remember some influential moms whose children succeeded thanks to their strength, encouragement and advice.

13 Year old Magnus Carlsen gets a visit from Garry Kasparov
If you look closely, at one point of the video, Carslen says : "I hope to become a world champion. It has to happen before 2020."
And he made it before 2020. In 2013, he defeated Vishy Anand and grabbed his title.

Interview with Ian Nepomniachtchi (in English, with Russian subtitles)
In the big interview, conducted on the evening of the last round of the #FIDECandidates, the new challenger for the world championship Ian Nepomniachtchi talks in detail about the tournament, preparation, Magnus Carlsen, and more.
🔗 Ruslan Ponomariov ♔ (@Ponomariov):
It was my first meeting against legendary Korchnoi. I didn't really remember what he told me after the game😅 I am very grateful to him that he never thought to retire from chess and we played 11 classical games. The last one was in Karlovy Vary 2007. How would you play?

🔗 Think Like a Machine (@ThinkLikeaMach3):
Black can save himself with devilish idea: 46...Rd8!! 47.Nc7 Rac8!! (Could you spot the idea already?) 48. a8=Q Rxc7 and the New White queen is trapped 🤪🤪🤪.
Thank you to @Ponomariov for the position. You are invited to send me from your games as well.
A picture I took 6 years ago in Oslo: Hundreds of people showed up for the launch of PlayMagnus' new chess set.

My 1996 World Championship trophy which completed the world’s 1st ever Chess Triple-Crown (world blitz/rapid/classical world championships). The base was made from an Olive Tree (from the region where the match was held) & the top (olive tree) was made of pure silver FIDE chess
