An exhibition of 'living chess' in front of ~8,000 spectators in Palace Square, St Petersburg, 24th July 1924. The 'pieces' were men from the Red Fleet (White) & the Red Army (Black), respectively conducted by local masters Pyotr Romanovsky & Ilya Rabinovich.
