3-time Georgian champion Baadur Jobava, 4-time Bulgarian champion Ivan Cheparinov, and Polish chess prodigy & later 8-time US Chess Champion Samuel Reshevsky were #OnThisDay in 1983, 1986, and 1911 respectively. Happy Birthdays to the 3 outstanding chess grandmasters!
8-year-old Samuel Reshevsky is giving a simultaneous exhibition in France in 1920.

The Polish prodigy, who became one of the strongest American grandmasters, 8-time US champion and a contender for the world championship, was born on November 26, 1911.

The 1980 Olympics were difficult for the USSR national team. The Hungarian team was ahead for a long time. In the 11th round, they managed to beat the USA with great difficulty. The victory was brought by the youngest member of the team who defeated Leonid Shamkovich.
