40 years ago #OnThisDay 5th World Champion Max Euwe (right in the photo) launched the Dutch version of Teletekst . It is still widely used in the Netherlands (more than elsewhere) due to a quickly developed version for smartphones.
In fact, to demonstrate the possibilities of this new medium, Euwe played a game of chess against the Teletekst editor-in-chief Wim Stokla. The event was held in the VU University in Amsterdam. On that day, about 2,000 people in the Netherlands had a TV suitable for Teletekst.
