The legendary game Nona Gaprindashvili - Maia Chiburdanidze took place in round 6 of the European Women Rapid Championship in Monaco. Chiburdanidze won.

The previous official game they played was in 1996; and the first in 1973, 46 years ago!

We are thrilled to announce that Vladimir Kramnik will take part in the World Rapid & Blitz Championship, to be held in Moscow from December 25th to 30th, 2019.

Since announcing his retirement last January, Kramnik has dedicated most of his time to mentoring young chess talents, but he made a brief return in blitz during a tournament in Amsterdam last August. His presence in Moscow will be a treat for his many fans all over the world!
