Here Kasparov is facing Smyslov in they're 1984 Candidates final match. The final result was 8.5-4.5 in Kasparovs favor (+5 -0 =9).
With this victory Kasparov earned the right to challenge Karpov for the title. Keep in mind Smyslov was 63.years old that made him oldest candidate.
