🔰 Chess Master. Born in Latvian, Russian, he was one of the leading chess masters of all time and a very influential chess writer. He was the founder the Hypermodernism School of Chess in Denmark, which emerged which emerged after World War I to challenge the chess ideologies of traditional central European masters. He was the Russian Champion in 1913, won a string of international events in the mid-1920s, World Championship in 1925, took first place at Copenhagen 1923, Dresden 1926, Karlsbad 1929 and Frankfurt 1930. He died of pneumonia at age 48 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
