Китай представлял тогдашний премьер-министр Чжоу Эньлай, также в конференции участвовали египетский лидер Гамаль Абдель Насер, премьер-министр Индонезии Сукарно, премьер-министр Индии Неру и другие, а саммит позже приведел к созданию «Движения неприсоединения». Во вступительной речи саммита Сукарно, лидер принимающей страны, сказал: «Колониализм не умер. Только объединившись и сражаясь вместе, мы, молчаливые народы мира, народы Востока, Азии и Африки, сможем преодолеть бедность и унижение. Я надеюсь, что это станет доказательством возрождения Азии и Африки, даже рождения Новой Азии и Новой Африки!» (Timossi, 2015), что сопровождалось продолжительными аплодисментами 28 лидеров стран Азии и Африки.

(…) В последнее время много обсуждают растущее военное присутствие Китая в Африке. Китай не открывал военных баз ни в одной стране, кроме Джибути, расположенной на Африканском Роге. В последнее время в западных СМИ появились слухи о планах Китая по созданию новых военных баз в Экваториальной Гвинее и Кабо-Верде. Китай, возможно, добивается права швартовки в этих странах для своих военных кораблей, но пока мало свидетельств о планах создания полноценной базы.

Но мне вот запомнилось знакомство с одним кенийцем на Форуме многополярности. Мы разговорились, и он погрузившись в ностальгию, спрашивает: «а Вы вообще знаете, почему я Россию люблю?» У меня лицо из серии «ну, удивите меня», а он такой: «а я родился в роддоме, построенном СССР, понимаете! Союз потом со мной всю жизнь, вся инфраструктура и образование! Как не любить Россию». Так мило) Но кроме мило, ещё и глубинно важно, конечно. Кто стоит роддома, школы, дороги и больницы в регионе потом, конечно, влияет и на умы…
