Twenty-first century policing: a woman was murdered in Plymouth last night (just around the corner from the above picture of the wave (and a hundred yards or so from where I was staying)) and the police statement includes this phrase:

“I wish to make the public aware we are looking to locate a man in relation to this incident whose identity is known, and enquiries are ongoing to find him.

“At this time, I would like to reassure the community and further afield in Plymouth that there is no suggestion that there is a wider risk to members of the public.

“There will be a heightened police presence and visibility in the coming days in the area as enquiries are ongoing. We will of course update the public once we have further information."

Despite the fact D&C police are pursuing a known suspect, they have not released any details which would enable the public to help find him--or avoid him--and they have insisted he presents no danger, in the immediate aftermath of his (possibly) killing someone.

Israel’s Knesset has approved a bill criminalising denial of Israel’s version of events of October 7th, those who break this law could face 5 years in prison.
