Justin Welby has stepped down as Archbishop of Canterbury amid criticism over his handling of abuse allegations.
The Bishop of Manchester is reportedly a leading candidate for the role—but is this really an improvement?
Charles Malet’s UK Column article exposed the Church of England’s investments in pornography, weapons, and embryonic stem cells, raising serious questions about its moral compass:

The Church of England: Ethically investing in pornography, weapons and embryonic stem cells
How pleased would parishioners be to know how much money the Church Commission has tied up in the business of extinction of life—either at the wrong end of a weapon or in a laboratory?

Call me old fashioned, but as I observe the increasing numbers of (predominantly young) people wandering about the place with "earpods" permanently stuffed into their heads, I cannot help but think it a terribly bad idea. Situational awareness to zero, brain-cooking potential to high.
I wonder if anyone is aware of any research into the effects of this technological development, on hearing, health and cognitive function.
As it stands, the statistics on hearing loss are extraordinary (if they are to be believed): 18 million people in UK with hearing defect of some sort.

What's he up to this time?
Elon Musk's modus operandi, to date, has been to trouser large amounts of public money via the mechanism of an innovative business that the Government just has to support.
With that in mind, which particular pot of British cash is he eyeing up?

"Just so people who are coming to this late appreciate the scale of the cover up. Not only can you see @OldhamCouncil leader @shah_arooj hanging off the arm of the convicted getaway driver of the cop killer DALE CREGAN & partying with a man wearing a @UKLabour rosette that kidnapped and tortured someone, Even knowing this, the Labour Party appointed AROOJ SHAH as its chair of the powerful National Constitutional Committee
I do not believe that Oldham is the only town controlled by Pakistani gangsters. These are the people @Keir_Starmer relies on to stay in power. This is another reason why the Labour Party wants to block a Public Inquiry"

Dominic Adler's take on politcal policing over the years, with poor outcomes for just about everyone:
"Yet given the scale of the rape gang scandal, is it now unreasonable to ask if any babies were chucked out with the bathwater? I think they were. I describe it as “Tsunami Policing” — where the solution to a policing problem is, initially, like a gentle offshore wave. Then, as it rushes towards the landmass of reality, urged on by opinion formers and politicians and grasping police managers, it becomes a monstrosity. This describes the post-Macpherson Met’s obsession with race, whereby Scotland Yard played “trendy vicar” one minute, Torquemada the next."

Just listening through the first 15 minutes (now time for bed) there’s a striking parallel as Charles outlines today’s Police having ro deal with minor issues that should be sorted out within families and communities - things like hurty feelings - and what’s happening today within the NHS with multi-testing of perfectly healthy people who aren’t ill. The thresholds for intervention have been brought right down to nonsense. In nursing I was taught that if people are OK and they can get on without you, then leave well alone. This allows professional time to deal with those most in need. Ultimately in today’s NHS so much technocratic inspired outreach, useless appointments, apps and fake consultations do no good and just get in the way. The parallel for the Police is they can’t do their job as also happens in NHS. These enforced restrictions from above strangle our society. It’s Common Purpose at play.

How many women does it take to change a planet?
A BBC posse of propagandists has hit the ground running this year, pushing out such gems as:
"We love our pets. But research shows keeping animals is not always the most environmentally friendly thing to do. Take pet cats. They can generate over three tonnes of CO2 over the course of their life – equivalent to driving a petrol car 12,070km (7,500 miles)."
