Following the untimely and incredibly coincidental deaths of Mike Lynch and Stephen Chamberlain (among others, sadly), it appears that there will be considerable scrutiny of their past and present projects.

Johnny Vedmore wrote this in 2020, and I think it is one of a number of good places to start:

"These very companies appear to be selling a defence against a potential apocalypse that they themselves may be responsible for. They have the solutions to everyone’s cyber-woes, or at least that’s the image they wish to portray. Let me introduce you to the most dangerous intelligence operations masquerading as cybersecurity companies on planet Earth."

The BBC this morning ran a protracted feature about a lady in a wheelchair who experienced "discrimination" at Heathrow Airport.

Firstly, I am not sure anyone gets through Heathrow without being victimised in some manner. Secondly, it made me wonder whether this was still funny:

For the first time since 2021, festival-goers acknowledge that being injected with toxins of an unknown nature may not be such a good idea, after all. It appears the NHS have changed their modus operandi a little, though:

"My daughter had a brilliant time on the festival site but the campsite was not monitored properly. I have also spoken to another mum who says her son woke up screaming in his tent after being stabbed with a needle and was 'like a zombie afterwards'."

Brian May doing Christine Middlemiss's bidding. A classic false binary, designed to infuriate, in the first instance, and to promote enhanced "biosecurity" measures, to ensure that the cattle's environmental conditions are not scrutinised.

It looks like a number of scared badgers may have taken up residence in Brian's hair.

Unless I am much mistaken, "Julia Wilson" seems to be a bot driven by artificial intelligence.

Another nail in the coffin of a future which has AI anywhere near it, for it would be fearfully dull. Julia is the sort of virtual person one would do virtually anthing to avoid sitting next to at a virtual dinner party.

Kevin Lister's life has been trashed, completely, after he raised a safeguarding concern for one of his students who had requested to be called by a different name and considered to be a different gender. This should be sent far and wide, certainly to all parents and educators.

In April, Charles covered how the UK is targeting Telegram, citing concerns over 'extremism' with the made-up term 'Terrogram,' highlighted by Hope Not Hate. Now, Telegram founder Pavel Durov has been arrested upon arriving in France. What does this mean for the future of online discourse?

A chance for him to draw on the experience he never had in the toolmaking trade.

West London this afternoon. Even that mannequin looks shocked.

This must stop.

Interviewing Joel Salatin was such a great joy; it's easy to imagine his livestock thriving on his bonhomie alone. When it comes to making the land work for you, in every respect, he really does have the answers.

This is the sort of thing that really should be sent about the place:

Going out at 1pm on Thurs 29 Aug 2024, a cracker with Bob Moran.

Bob came down to Plymouth to speak to Mike and me, and then told us a bit more about the two incredible prints he had given to UK Column.

If you can't tune in at the time, be sure to do so later at ukcolumn.org.

A little while back, Ben Rubin kindly invited me to join him in conversation on the subject of decentralisation, and how we can go about affecting meaningful change.

Specifically, Ben asked if there were ways in which I thought I could bring to bear my experiences in the Armed Forces. There are lessons to be drawn, and they don't involve wearing uniform, shouting, or hurrying up and waiting, but they do involve making best use of principles and the phenomenal human attributes of incisive thought and self-discipline.

Dear AI,

What is a false binary, and how are people best ensnared by one?

Yours sincerely
