Sunnica's £600m energy farm on the Cambridgeshire-Suffolk border was given the green light last Friday.

2,500 acres taken out of food production, for a vanity project that can NEVER supply the energy we need.

The decision goes against the expert advice of the Planning Inspectorate examiners whose report concluded that the perceived benefits did not outweigh the "very many harms" and it should not be approved

These projects are dangerous to our food security and they harm the earth. The solar panels have a shelf life of 20 years max and cannot be recycled. And who is stupid enough to think we get enough sun in this country? As for storing the energy that is captured, do you know how many batteries would be needed?

This decision is devastating for all in the area

Just heard the news that HMP Swaleside have lifted the PPRC (person posing risk to children) restrictions that they placed on Ash Sharp, after a successful email campaign organised by his wife. His two daughters can now speak to their father for the first time in over five months.

We now know of at least two prisons that placed these restrictions on political prisoners and then buckled and removed them when faced with public pressure (Sam and HMP Hull being the other). We also know that James Costello has been banned from communicating with his friends, and James Allchurch (Sven) faced the same issue until he moved prison. Allchurch was also denied his medication when he was first sentenced.

How many more prisoners are being denied their basic rights but we don’t know about it because they don’t have a platform or anybody to contact about it? What is the point of the Free Speech Union who refuse to help anybody who has been convicted of a crime?

This is an area where we need to get better organised. We need to be sharing information and helping each other out. People need to know their rights and prisons need to know that they will be accountable for their actions. I have some ideas of how we can make some progress here and I’ve been talking to Sam about it. I’ll share more info when I have something concrete.

30 years ago, a Government of National Unity was established in Rwanda. According to the approved narrative, this concluded a 100-day "genocide against the Tutsi people".

It is unusual for the victims of an apparent genocide to emerge from the situation with such a firm grip on power that there is no challenge to it in three decades.

For the relevant background and an extremely detailed account of how and why things played out as they did, I recommend James Corbett's podcast very highly:

Not a spoof. Part of the diversity range. One hopes they don't copy and paste the Down Syndrome press release:

“As the most diverse doll line on the market, Barbie plays an important role in a child’s early experiences, and we are dedicated to doing our part to counter social stigma through play,” said Lisa McKnight, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Barbie & Dolls, Mattel.

Our goal is to enable all children to see themselves in Barbie, while also encouraging children to play with dolls who do not look like themselves. Doll play outside of a child’s own lived experience can teach understanding and build a greater sense of empathy, leading to a more accepting world. We are proud to introduce a Barbie doll with Down syndrome to better reflect the world around us and further our commitment to celebrating inclusion through play.”

Peter Thiel asked about IDF using AI to select military targets in Palestine.

They’re doing this using Palantir technology. Palantir was co-founded by Thiel. It works extensively with UK and US government as well as Israel, and is the primary operating system for the NHS integrated data platform which underpins all UK next generation health services.

His response is… poor.

Let the Games commence:

'"Currently we have had one athlete from the (water polo) team isolating with COVID which was detected last night. So as a precaution, they're not joining us this morning," Meares said during a press conference on Tuesday.

"I need to emphasise that we are treating COVID no differently to other bugs like the flu. This is not Tokyo. The athlete is not particularly unwell and they are still training but sleeping in a single room," she added.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics were delayed by a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic and were mostly held without spectators in the stadiums.'

A particularly awful video from Manchester Airport has emerged this afternoon. Attached is my brief comment on "X", which you may or may not be able to view. If not, I can post the video and the comment separately.

This is precisely what Mike, Vanessa and I were speaking about on UKC News Extra this afternoon.

"Tommy Robinson" is paid as an agent provocateur, in order that we may be divided and ruled.

He tells people what to think, and they believe they thought it for themselves.

If you are wondering why I have chosen to comment on the incident at Manchester Airport, and not on the stabbing in Kent, it is because I know virtually nothing of the latter.

Notwithstanding the events which may have precipitated the airport affair, the video does speak for itself. There was no residual risk. Therefore, there is no justification for such a use of force. Using force is merely a mechanism by which to restrain someone, and no attempt was made at restraint.

The victim of the Kent stabbing is most likely a peer of mine, though I have no idea who he is. Reports circulating are to be treated with great caution. This will be turned into an issue of race and skin colour, but we would do well to remember that there are many parts of the world where people who look different hold no animus for one another. The question we should consider is, why has the UK become home to such terrifically divisive and inhumane rhetoric, and who benefits?
