On Monday, I had the pleasure of speaking to Abi Roberts on her new and excellent TNT Radio show. We had a quickfire back and forth, centred around the degree to which policing in the UK has become compromised.
My segment with Abi begins at 12:30 in the programme.
In the (not altogether unlikely) event that you have heard quite enough from me, I encourage you to tune in anyway, because the next guest was Rachel Mathews.
Rachel is setting the example in holding local councils to account. In effect, this amounts to a practical application of The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates.

Just published by UK Column is an interview with Angus McIntosh, a South African regenerative farmer, and I hope you will find him a pleasure to listen to. Angus is not backwards in coming forwards and his philosophical belief in what he is doing for the land and the flora and fauna inhabiting it is rock solid.
Though, of course, neither of us could have had any idea that such a discussion lay ahead of us, I should declare that I first met Angus in SA in the mid-90s. The reason I mention this, in particular, is to be able to relate one moment, of many memorable ones, from that same trip.
Whilst staying on the McIntosh family farm, awaiting another sumptuous braai, Angus's father whooped to himself and called out a few words which have leapt into my mind on a very regular basis ever since:
"Yippee, it's great to be alive!"

From the ground up: Regeneration and nutrient density with Farmer Angus
Agriculture's chronic reliance on the chemical and pharmaceutical industries leaves consumers with a toxic diet. Angus McIntosh tells Charles Malet how he meets the combined challenges of regenerating the environment and producing nutrient-dense food in South…

There are messages in the ether suggesting "farmers' protests" at Dover. Apart from a very short clip showing three tractors in convoy on a main road (which could have been anywhere, anywhen), I have been unable to find any meaningful evidence of such an occurrence.
Are you able to substantiate or dismiss this claim? If it is happening, who is organising and what are their objectives?

With farmers' protests in mind, this thread shows a hearty dose of what I would describe as cognitive dissonance. James Rebanks has written books about farming in such a way to suggest that he 'gets it'.
He makes a particular point of describing his approach to the welfare of his livestock, which involves the avoidance of vaccines and antibiotics. However, as soon as the first phials of COVID juice were popped open, Rebanks duly rolled up his sleeve.
Here, he finishes an otherwise fairly sensible offering with a bunch of virtue-signalling muck. There's nowt so queer as folk.

Judith Curry explained to me why nobody has any idea how climate change works.

Owen Matthews reinforcing the complete inhumanity which characterises the continued sponsorship of the 'defence of Ukraine'.
These are just a couple of paragraphs from yet another thoughtless article on armed conflict. As usual, no reference to peace or the prospect of it.

'When British police forcibly hauled Julian handcuffed out of the Ecuadorian embassy, many mainstream outlets - and a great many Russiagaters - cheered, believing he would soon be indicted for his GRU-assisted role in subverting the outcome of the 2016 US Presidential election.
No such charges have been forthcoming. And in September 2021, Yahoo News inadvertently let an incongruous cat out of the bag. The outlet revealed the CIA had explored plans to surveil, kidnap, and even kill Julian while he was ensconced in the Ecuadorian Embassy.'

Despite appearing to be made from wood, Liz Truss may not have misspent all of her 44 days in Downing Street. I am not sure if she was given the chance to elaborate, but this is a significant statement in a forum that she knows will receive plenty of attention.

This makes for distressing reading. Distress, though, which is dwarfed by that being experienced by Tom's mother. This casts a light on a reprehensible system which is manipulated by people behaving in a reprehensible manner.
