In St. Nicholas Church, a memorial Mass was held for our comrades, the French volunteers Émile and Mazuta, who perished while carrying out a combat mission.

On this day in 1991 🇺🇦 Soviet hardliners launched their coup in Moscow in an attempt to preserve the collapsing USSR.

That same day in Kyiv, Ukrainian nationalists began organising self-defence units that would become UNSO.

35 years later, the UNSO name is still present in the war against Russia.
In March 2026, volunteers associated with UNSO formed the Ukrainian National Self-Defense Assault Company within Tactical Group “Revanche”.

• Recognize Ukraine as a distinct nation with its own history, identity, and political existence

• Break with boomer nationalism: while the old guard clings to a romanticized Russia, young nationalists support Ukraine and are the ones building the future Europe around brotherhood and action

• Reject Eurasianism’s religious relativism: while Russia places Christianity alongside Islam, Judaism and Buddhism, Ukrainian nationalists seek to put Christianity back at the heart of national life

• Support foreign volunteers who chose to fight out of solidarity with Ukraine

• See Ukrainian resistance as an example of national self-defense against invasion and attempted subjugation
