-> we also need some sort of prizes (probs food) to give to the players of this event. It looks like @Vera and @tenzzor were willing to go get them for us on Friday morning. Thank you guys for doing this and please lmk in advance if your plans change!
-> we also need some fake money to keep track of points. If anyone has a Monopoly - please hmu cuz monopoly money sounds like an ideal option. Otherwise, any sort of money/tokens from games will do. Send me ur suggestions about what we can use 👌💹
3. Saturday - Russian Conference at UCLA. A Russian Club from UC Santa Barbara is coming up to UCLA for the big conference/research presentations. Idk how heavily we need to participate in the actual conference, but we are for sure scheduled to wine and dine our SB friends after the official part is over. So get your bellies ready for some delicious food form the Traktir Russian restaurant in Santa Monica. For more info about this event you can interrogate our president @tenzzor

Hello, Everyone! I hope you had a great week. Here are a few important updates and deadlines regarding Russian Club. It is essential that you read and answer all polls at the end of the message.

I. San Francisco Russian Clubs of California Conference
1. What is going to happen?
The conference will take place on May 18th (Friday), 19th (Saturday), and 20th (Sunday). And include people from UCSB, UC Berkeley, Stanford, UC Davis and others.

San Francisco Russian Clubs of California Conference will consist of two major parts: Intellectual Casino Night on Friday evening and the self-organized event on Saturday. Sunday is reserved as a leaving day.

Intellectual Casino is organized by Russian Center of San Francisco and is open to the public (http://russiancentersf.com/index.php/2018/04/20/05-18-2018-intellectual-casino/). It will start at 9 pm on Friday and will continue until approximately until 1 am. The primary activity during this event is Russian Trivia Game (Спортивное "Что? Где? Когда?"), held entirely in the Russian language. We are allowed to bring a group of 10 people maximum.

On Saturday, leaders of Russian Clubs will organize our event in the Russian Center of San Francisco. Even though we are still discussing possible activities, it will likely have small Talent Show, Poetry Competition, and other fun stuff. If you have an idea of what can be done, please, contact me, I will be happy hear it. After the formal event, we will likely have an informal party. The format of the party is still to be determined.

2. Housing
Russian Club at UCSB has a reservation in the hotel in Oakland, at which they invite us to stay. In the hotel, we can take up to 4 rooms; each room has four sleeping places and costs of $250 per two nights. As a result, in the ideal accommodation, one will only have to pay ~$31 per night.

3. Food
During our event on Saturday, we are planning to have a small Russian banquet ($30 per person).

4. Transportation
We are most likely are going to fly from LA to Oakland or San Fransico. Tickets are going to cost around $100-150 per person per round trip if we are quick enough to buy them.
However, there are four empty seats the buses rented by UCSB that will depart from UCSB on Friday morning. If you are willing to get to SF by UCSB bus, please, contact me (@tenzzor).

5. Other Fees
Participation in Intellectual Casino costs $30 per person.

As a result, the total cost of the event is ~$120. To participate in the Russian Clubs of California Conference, please, vote on the poll. The deadline to vote is 9 pm on Sunday.

II. Multicultural Performance Night at the Department of Slavic, Eastern European, Eurasian Languages and Cultures.
Russian Club historically helps in the organization of the event.

1. Sponsors
We are asked by the Department to find sponsors for the event. Sponsors must be Westwood businesses that are willing to provide us with coupons, vouchers, and discounts that we are going to use as prizes during the Performance Night, in return for advertisement of those businesses during the event.

To accomplish the goal, we need to talk to at least ten businesses in Westwood in person. We think that the best way to do that is to form teams of 2-3 people, assign a handful of companies to each team, and pick times during which a team will go to Westwood during the week and talk to businesses assigned to it.

It is crucial that we do that ASAP. Therefore, we need to form teams by the end of Sunday (9 pm). In the attached spreadsheet, please, indicate the team you are in, businesses you want to talk to and times during which you are planning to go to Westwood. 2. Performances
Traditionally, Russian Club is given an opportunity to perform during the Night. We are allowed up to 3 performances. If you are willing to sing, read, poems, dance, or just show your talent, please contact me (@tenzzor).
Please fill the spreadsheet, vote on the poll, and have a great weekend!

Добый вечер, Friends!

We hope you are having a great end of zero week at UCLA! This Saturday our friends from UCSB Russian Club are visiting Los Angeles. This an excellent opportunity for you to meet new people and make new friends sharing similar interests from other universities around California.

We are going to meet in Westwood at 11 am on Saturday and drive to Griffith Observatory to have a picnic there. Unfortunately, the number of places is limited, and they are going to be assigned on first-come, first-serve basis. Therefore, if you are willing to join us, please, send us a short message to our email russianclub@ucla.edu. We will send you the details in response.
