URGENT PLAN B OPTION UPDATE:
#UCC_SC_News

Good day folks! Hope you are all doing well.

We have just confirmed that the down payment of the 40% at the start of the semester under the Plan B Tuition Payment Option, has been reduced by a whopping 10%. You are now only required to pay 30% of the overall tuition at the beginning, then pay the remaining 70% before exams.

This will come in to effect this Fall 2024 semester, and students who have not begun payment yet are eligible to use the updated plan.

As per usual, if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please feel free to reach out to any member of the council.

Until our next update,
Student Council Board 2024/2025

๐Ÿ”Š Urgent Update: Course Cancellations

Dear Students,

NB: This course has been reinstated.
๐Ÿ“Calculus 1 - MTH103 (Hyflex-A ONLY)
๐Ÿ“Cisco CCNA - ITT314
๐Ÿ“Cloud Computing - ITT318
๐Ÿ“Data Structures & File Management II - ITT301
๐Ÿ“Discrete Mathematics II - MTH303
๐Ÿ“Information Assurance and Security - ITT408

If you are aware of any additional cancellations, please inform the Student Council so we can assist further.

Based on the response from our HOD, the university has acknowledged our request for an Emergency Town Hall but feels it isnโ€™t necessary at this time. Instead, they recommend that affected students respond directly to the cancellation emails to get assistance with alternative courses or advice on completing their programs. UCC does reserve the right the cancel courses based on low enrollment (fewer than 25 students), as outlined in university policy.

Please use the official channels (email or phone) for any questions or concerns. Thank you for your understanding, and weโ€™re here to support you through this process.

Best regards,
Khalia Phillips (Miss)
(Student Council Executive - Math and IT Department)

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
COURSE REGISTRATION AND ADVISEMENT

Dear Students,

Mr. Otis Osbourne, Head of the IT and Math Department, has provided the following important instructions and updates for all students:

๐ŸŽฏRegistration and Payment
If you have completed payment for your courses but notice that you are not officially registered in the system, it is critical that you contact Mr. Osbourne directly. To resolve this, please email him at ithod@ucc.edu.jm and attach a copy of your payment receipt. The deadline to submit this information is Friday, September 13, 2024. Failure to do so may impact your course enrollment.
NB: If you have already sent an email to Mr.Osbourne, I advise for you to send it again.

๐ŸŽฏAdd/Drop Period
Students are reminded to refrain from making any changes to their courses or registration, including adding or dropping courses, until further notice. This is to avoid any complications with your registration status and ensure the department can manage enrollments effectively.

๐ŸŽฏCourse Cancellations
Please be aware that afterFriday, September 13, 2024, courses with fewer than 45 registered students will be cancelled. If you are enrolled in or planning to enroll in a course with low enrollment, it is important to keep this in mind as it may affect your schedule. The department will assess enrollments at the end of the week and provide further updates, including replacement courses, accordingly.

๐ŸŽฏAdvisement for Future Courses
Certain courses within the department will now be offered only once per academic year. If you are unsure about how this may impact your academic progression or need assistance in planning your course load, it is highly recommended that you reach out to Mr. Osbourne for advisement. He will be able to provide guidance on how best to plan your schedule to ensure you remain on track.

Please ensure you follow these guidelines closely and take action where necessary.

For further information, please contact Mr. Osbourne using either number: (876)218-2935 or (876)578-0804.

Please Note that the above message has been sent on behalf of Mr.Osbourne, IT HOD

My Warmest Regards,
Khalia Phillips (Miss)

URGENT ACTION REQUIRED

Good morning students.

It has come to our attention there is an active spam/scam account invading class groups.

We ask students to be vigilant in removing this person from all forums.

Andre Williams, offering tutoring services. He is not affiliated with UCC in any capacity and we have no proof of his legitimacy.

Attached are screenshots of public and private interactions with this individual.

Clubs & Societies

Clubs provide a space to develop new skills, meet people, and take a break from the pressures of schoolwork. Unfortunately, many of our UCC clubs have gone dormant due to poor governance and lack of club executives to keep them in operation. The Student Council wishes to help change that, but we can't do it without you! ๐Ÿซต

Do you want to become a club executive? Or are you in an existing club executive role? Notify us!

We have structured a Clubs Executives Enrollment form to allow those interested in becoming an executive to initially apply. We'll then add those interested in the new Club Union group and guide them on the next steps. Check our UCC Clubs Listing and APPLY NOW!
