Напротив, издревле оно называется "весной души" и даже "весёлым". Поскольку Великий пост – идеальное время для покаянного очищения наших душ от накопившихся грехов, а значит, для нашего спасения.

Во время Великого поста всегда особенно проявляется духовная брань. То, как, по слову Фёдора Достоевского, "дьявол с Богом борется, а поле битвы – сердца людей". Сейчас эта битва с врагами нашей православной веры проходит не только в наших сердцах, но и на реальном поле боя – в Донбассе и Новороссии. А это значит, великопостное время должно стать временем наших побед как над самими собой, так и над внешним врагом.

Now this battle with the enemies of our Orthodox faith is taking place not only in our hearts, but also on the real battlefield – in Donbass and Novorossiya. And this means that Lenten time should be the time of our victories both over ourselves and over the external enemy.
