THE UAT EXAM TRAP
That basic formula works great for simple questions. BUT HERE IS WHERE AAU TRAPS 90% OF STUDENTS:
What happens when the UAT gives you a Conditional Selection Problem like this?
Example:
"A pool has 5 Engineering students and 4 Medical students. You must pick a 4-person committee, but it MUST contain AT LEAST 2 Engineering students. What is the probability of selecting this exact group?"

If you try to solve "at least" problems using standard combinations, you will run out of time or count duplicate groups—costing you easy points on test day!
There is a 15-second "Complementary Probability" shortcut that completely bypasses the long calculations for "at least" and "at most" conditions.
We only have time in this fast-track sprint to master the core foundation so you hit your target baseline. But mastering these advanced high-speed shortcuts is what separates standard scores from top-tier AAU placements.

🎯 YOUR TURN (CAN YOU SOLVE THIS?):
A pool has 5 Engineering students and 4 Medical students. A 4-person committee is selected at random. What is the exact probability that the committee contains AT LEAST 2 Engineering students?
Drop your steps and answers in the comments below!

Most students get stuck or take over 3 minutes on this exact problem. Let's see who can handle it.

Stay sharp, stay locked in, and get ready for the next lesson dropping shortly!

Live stream scheduled for
There are still several important Quantitative topics that every serious UAT candidate needs to master.
What we have covered in this bootcamp so far is only part of the bigger picture. The remaining Quantitative topics are especially important because they can account for more than 25–30 questions in the real UAT exam.

over the next 3 days, we will continue building your Quantitative foundation and show you the concepts, question patterns, and approaches you actually need for the exam.

And after this bootcamp, these topics will be covered more deeply in our actual tutorial program with more practice, real UAT questions, detailed explanations, and exam-focused preparation.

So if you are wondering, “What about the rest of Quantitative?” we haven’t forgotten them.

The bootcamp gives you the direction and foundation.
The tutorial gives you the depth, practice, and exam readiness.

When it comes to Probability, not every question deserves the same amount of attention.
There are a few high yield patterns that repeatedly appear on real UAT exams of AAU.
✔️ Tossing coins
✔️ Rolling dice
✔️Card problems
✔️Selection problems
✔️ Color ball  problems

The interesting part is that once you understand the Combination Principle, 90% of  selection and probability questions that initially look complicated become much more manageable.

We introduced the foundation during the bootcamp, but we won’t try to squeeze every exam-level variation into a short session.

In the full tutorial program, we’ll take these high-yield areas much further working through different question patterns, common traps, previous year questions, and increasingly challenging problems so you can build the confidence to face unfamiliar questions.

The Addis Ababa University (AAU) UAT Verbal Reasoning section contains 55 questions to be answered in 60 minutes and focuses heavily on logic and language mechanics.

UAT VERBAL SPRINT:
LOGICAL REASONING TRAPS

Future AAU scholars!
The UAT Verbal section hits you with 55questions in just 60 minutes. That is roughly 65 seconds per question.
Today we are attacking the biggest time-killer on the exam: Logical Deductions & Arguments.

The Core Rule: Never Use Outside Knowledge

When the exam gives you a logic statement, you must rely only on the text provided.

Quick Exam Scenario:
Statement 1: All doctors study biology.
Statement 2: Sara studies biology.
Conclusion: Sara is a doctor.
The Fast-Track Solution:
Is the conclusion true? FALSE. Just because all doctors study biology does not mean everyone who studies biology is a doctor. Recognizing this one-way logic rule will get you the correct answer on 80% of standard UAT deduction problems.

🔥 THE UAT EXAM TRAP
That basic rule is easy. BUT HERE IS WHERE AAU TRAPS 90% OF STUDENTS:

What happens when the test hits you with a Multi-Conditional Chain?
"If it rains, the game is delayed. If the game is delayed, the team rests. The team did not rest."

🔹Standard test-takers try to read this backward in their heads, get confused, and waste 3 minutes picking a trap answer.

There is a 10-second visual mapping shortcut that lets you instantly draw out these logic chains so you never have to hold them in your head.

📢In this fast-track sprint, we only have time to master the core logic rules so you avoid basic errors. But mastering that visual mapping system is what guarantees a top-tier Verbal score when you are under extreme time pressure.

🎯 YOUR TURN (CAN YOU SOLVE THIS?):
If only blue birds sing, and the bird in the cage is singing, what must logically be true?
A) The bird is definitely blue.
B) All blue birds are in cages.
C) The bird might not be blue.
☑️Drop your answer (A, B, or C) and your reasoning in the comments below! Most people fall for the reversed-logic trap here. Let's see who gets it right.

💡Stay sharp, stay locked in. Lesson 3 is dropping soon!

UAT VERBAL SPRINT:
READING COMPREHENSION
👀New AAU applicants probably don't know about this🫢👇

This is where the vast majority of students get completely overwhelmed, freeze up, and run out of time.

▪️Reading Comprehension makes up a massive chunk of your 55-question Verbal section.  Out of the 55 total questions on your UAT Verbal Reasoning section, more than half are dedicated to Reading Comprehension and Passages.

Under exam pressure, reading every single word of long passages will drain your time fast.

☑️Today we are tackling Main Idea & Author’s Purpose Questions.

📌The Core Rule: The First & Last Sentence Anchors

💡You do not need to memorize every detail of the passage on your first read.

👉The Fast-Track Strategy:
Read the first two sentences and the last sentence of each paragraph first.

Paragraph 1: Sets up the topic and main argument (Thesis).

Body Paragraphs: Give evidence or contrasting views.

Final Paragraph: Restates the author's primary takeaway or stance.

✔️Using this scanning method allows you to answer standard main idea questions correctly on 80% of standard UAT passages without wasting 4 minutes reading every line.

Why 90% of Students Panic
🗣 🙅Don't do this👇,be careful on you exam.

Most test-takers try to read every single passage like a storybook, line by line, trying to memorize every detail.
Instead Do this👇

The Fast-Track Strategy:
✔️Stop reading the entire text right away.
✔️Read the question stems first so you know exactly what information to scan for.
✔️Target paragraph anchors (the first and last sentence of each paragraph) to map out the structure in under 45 seconds.

🔥 THE UAT EXAM TRAP
That scanning trick works great for general questions. BUT HERE IS WHERE AAU TRAPS 90% OF STUDENTS:

What happens when the UAT asks an Implicit Inference Question like this?
"Based on paragraph 3, what would the author MOST LIKELY agree with regarding future economic trends?"

😯Scanning won't save you here. The answer is never directly stated in the text. AAU purposely uses "Distractor Options" that sound 100% true in real life, but are logically unsupported by the text itself!

🤔There is a 3-Step Elimination Rule designed specifically to spot and disqualify those fake "true" answers in under 15 seconds.
📌In this fast-track sprint, we only have time to cover the core scanning rules so you move fast. But mastering that 3-Step Elimination Rule is what separates those who stumble on tricky inferences from those who score top marks.

🎯 YOUR TURN (TEST YOUR ABILITY):
Passage Excerpt: "While solar technology has advanced rapidly, storage limitations continue to hinder widespread adoption in developing areas. Unless battery efficiency improves by 40%, traditional grids will remain dominant."
Question: Which of the following is an INFERENCE supported by the text?
A) Solar power is too expensive for developing areas.
B) Current battery efficiency is currently a bottleneck for solar adoption.
C) Traditional grids are superior in performance to solar technology.

Drop your answer (A, B, or C) in the comments!

💡Keep your energy up—the practice question based on today's lessons drops shortly!

🚨 AAU-UAT Question Breakdown! 🚨

🔹The correct answer is
(B) Define and illustrate the struggle for existence.

መልስ ማብራሪያ
Correct Choice:(B) — The author opens by announcing the subject ("the struggle for existence"), defines the term broadly, and uses multiple examples (birds, desert plants, mistletoe) to illustrate how organisms compete.
Why others fail:
(A) misses the focus (reproduction is just the cause of overpopulation, not the main topic),
(C) is false (the author builds on previous theories), and
(D) is too narrow (plants/animals are used as examples, not for statistical comparison).

ለ እንደዚህ አይነት የ passage ጥያቄ focus መደረግ ያለበት point👇

💡 Pro Tip for Speed:
Don't waste time reading every line when asked for the primary purpose!
Check the title & opening line: It explicitly names "The Struggle for Existence."
Spot the pattern: The author gives a definition, then lists examples (birds, seeds, mistletoe).
Definition + Examples =
Define and Illustrate.

📌ለምንድነው ግን እንደ👆 ጥያቄ 58  ያሉ የጂኦሜትሪ ጥያቄዎች ድንጋጤ የሚፈጥሩት ግራ የሚያጋቡት ? Share: @UATbootcamp

The correct answer is (A) 51°
🎯 The Step Focus Method to Crack Complex Geometry Fast : Break it Down:

=>Don't look at the whole shape:
Isolate right triangle triangle DEF first to find \angle FDE = 55°
\triangle DEF is a right triangle at \angle E = 90° and \angle F = 35°
\angle FDE = 180 ° - (90° + 35°) = 55°.

=> Use the Exterior Angle Shortcut:
Don't calculate unnecessary interior angles! Use Exterior Angle =
\angle CGF = \angle CDG + \angle ACB
106° = 55°+ \angle ACB
\angle ACB = 106° - 55° = 51°
Or
Sum of 2 Opposite Interior Angles.\angle ACB = 106° - 55° = 5 1°
