🇧🇷🇧🇷⁉️ — A poorly drafted decree by the Municipality of Canoas, in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), allegedly would allow the confiscation of private donations from any truck or support point.

➡️ The publication of a decree by the Canoas municipality, which "determines the administrative requisition of private property due to the need to confront the State of Emergency" declared on May 2, raised doubts among business owners who were making donations to those affected by the floods in the city.

➡️ According to the mayor, the measure was taken to expedite the purchase of items such as mattresses, blankets, rolls of toilet paper, hygiene and cleaning products, drinking water, among others. With the decree, it is possible to acquire, more quickly, basic food baskets, for example.

❗️ After complaints on social media, the Canoas municipality will specify in the decree that it refers to the purchase of items from companies, rather than direct confiscation.
